W.O. Larsen No. 80 Light Aromatic

Number 80 was a very pleasant surprise! Upon opening I was bombarded with the toasty aroma of coconut cream pie, or maybe macaroons! The tin moisture is perfect from the get-go, and the feel of the leaf is soft, and natural. The topping applied to this baccy is very transparent and not sticky or slimy. The VA in this is a mild and pleasant leaf with a natural toasty sweetness that comes across with ZERO bite. The small amount of black toasted cavendish is not obtrusive or overwhelming like so many blends can be. It will begin to assert itself around the middle of the bowl only to be gently pushed out of the way by a smooth nutty burley. The burley doesn't get bitter unless you REALLY puff on it like a locomotive. All in all this is darn good tobacco that I will be sure to try and get more of. Certainly worth the extra cost that is applied to tinned 'baccy.

So would you say the coconuts are pronounced in the flavor?

Not really. Every once in a while it pops up and you notice it with a taste of vanilla as well, But for the most part it is rather unobtrusive. The name of the blend is correct, LIGHT AROMATIC.

As an update, this is the only thing I have had in my cob for a few days now, and it is growing on me more and more. It is smoking cool and dry, leaving a delightful note of cookies and caramel in my mustache and beard. Now I just need to find someone who has a supply of it. My local shop had only the one tin and I am not seeing it online anywhere.

Me, too! But I'm going to skip the tobacco for now and get some actual macaroons!

The review was great, though. I'll have to put that one on my list.
