What Kind of Work You In?

Here's a topic I haven't seen yet. What do the guys here on Club Stogie do for a living? We all smoke cigars, right, but I know there's more than that. Where does all that money come from?! I'll begin...

I'm a baker. We've got a tight, family-operated outfit here in sunny Vermont! I put together breads, cakes, cookies, pies—you name it, we make it (except for doughnuts). Gotta make some DOUGH so I can buy the cigars I KNEED! You know? {:>) —J.J.

RE: What Kind of Work You In?

What an extraordinary topic, but still in we go...I am Marketing Director for a website called www.tradebasics.com which we launched about 4 weeks ago. Used to work in PR and Sports Marketing which is where I will be heading if the site does not work out!

Have a look - its a good place to go if you are interested in stocks and shares (which I think are more popular in the States than they are over here in England).

I work for a large database company. I am a senior technical support engineer. When people have problems with our products, I fix it.

BJ, when you change careers, we might have a position for you.
We in technical engineering would like to eliminate a few of our more challenged customers.

When I'm not at college studying, I work in the Engineering office at Bradford White Corp. There I do 2d and 3d parametric design of water heaters. Lately I've been getting into Finite Element Analysis of our products too. Fun job.

I looked around the tradebasics website a little. Crisp layout, I like that. Lot of well-laid-out information too. I noticed a little section there on futures. Does Britain have their own commodity markets? —J.J.

Technical work. Sounds like a lot of fine-tuning and exacting specifications; I like that kind of thing. Do you compose these designs on a computer or scribble them out on large sheets of paper? —J.J.

RE: What Kind of Work You In?

I retired from the Army in '97 down in Texas. I then took a job with a research, development, and engineering company that does a lot of everything (computers, telecommunications, environmental, etc) I am a data analyst currently working on a government medical information systems contract. In reality it is consultant type work and pays enough so I can live up in the Pacific Northwest.

Rodster...I checked out your website. Now truthfully...is that an illustration of you smoking that stogie?

Duc, I did insist on that illustration - had to get a guy smoking a cigar in somewhere on the site!
