Now that we have the military banter section, what do we do with it? I could sit here and talk to my love of the best branch ever(Air Force). Or I could praise the work of the other branches. There is so much I can do with this section. Since I do love and respect my fellow brothers and sisters in arms, I will keep it nice.

Hmmmm... What should I post?

I think all services are doing a great job with the crap we are handed. It's not easy fo anyone serving and by no means will I say one service is "better" than another.

The Air Force has changed into this strange mixture of Army/Marine crap lately.

Maybe I'm just getting too old and should retire. I love the AF and always will but I just can't stand the BS and the PC crap. We are not, nor ever should be full ground combat troops! Air, Space & Cyberspace !!!!!

First off, I agree with not being able to stand the BS and the PC crap either.

With all respect because you are my surperior. That attitude that "We don't need the Army/Marine crap" is part of the reason we get made fun of by the other branches. The Air Force needs to be changing the way it is. I disagree that its Army/Marine crap, even if we're at FOBs we're still the REMFs. Those of us doing ILO missions aren't doing combat arms jobs, we're the brigade support teams, the personel shop among other things, because the Soldiers spend 12-15 months deployed as opposed to our 4-6 months (or the rare year rotation) deserve a break, even if its just an extra couple month.

We are NOT "full ground combat troops" like you say. Do we do convoys, yes but we aren't out there hunting the bad guys down. That is still an Army/Marine mission, along with the Battlefield Airman and pilots providing air support.

One other thing, in the 4 months I've spent deployed with the New York Guard so far I've become closer to them and know them better than anyone in my unit which I've been assigned to for close to 3 years. Maybe I just had bad luck with my current unit but from what I understand the lack of unit cohesion outside of work seems to be Air Force wide.

Don't get me wrong though, I'll bleed Air Force blue until the day the Air Force decides they don't need me anymore, but the expeditionary mindset the Air Force is slowly getting is a step in the right direction.

All the military services make their contributions to the defense of this country and while I will make occasional jokes about the other services, it is never malicious.

You guys can't help it that you couldn't get in the Coast Guard.

GO ARMY... and thanks to the AF for the ride! j/k... I strongly believe that there are many Soldiers, including myself, that are still alive because an AF B1 bomber dropped down from the stratosphere to about 7,000 AGL in a demonstration of force over my convoy in Afghanistan... So many thanks to the guys in blue for doing their jobs and doing it above and beyond.

I keep hoping I'll get to see a show of force with an B-1 or an A-10 when I do a convoy, but if that happens something bad is probably happening too and I don't want that.
