Today would be my 6 year anniversary, so I can sympathize. The best thing to do is be you. Dive into your hobbies - focus on one that you never really managed to put a lot of time in, and rectify that. Find what it means to be you again - find the things that define you, and that you want to define you.

It's a bitch, but it helped me to focus on separating the person I had been from marriage and the person I felt I should be, and focusing on the latter.

I feel for you, after 33 years together I asked my wife for a divorce in March. The Vette is sold and gone, the house is sold and gone and I've been on my own for a week now.

I have never been at or in such a peaceful happy place in my life. I have always been the one to take care of things, keep the peace, think through the issues. I was also the one that had such a long list of rules I had to follow, that life simply sucked. Now, none! I have to say my cigars have kept me on a level playing field and gave me lots of time to think things out.

Good luck to you, the only good news is you are at an age that in a few years it will be like it didn't even happen.

Hello Alex. Divorce is a very sad time. I know I have been through it already. It hurts in the beginning but it will work out in the end. God will not put more in your life than you can handle. My divorce was really a blessing in disguise. My wife after 10 years decided she did not want to be with me anymore. I went through all the divorce stuff, paid my child support until my daughter was 18 and the whole thing was over with. When I was towards the end of my child support I met a wonderful woman on match.com of all places. We started dating in Nov of 2006 and were married in October of 2008. I am proud to say that we have a baby boy and life is wonderful. What I am trying to say is that life goes on and you will be ok. God has a plan for you and sometimes we do not understand what that plan is. Your life will be better. You may go through some hard times but it will bet better.

Your young, you'll bounce back quick. I've had two divorces myself, just recently ended my 2nd a bit over a year ago. I was in a huge funk for ever until I just figured out that I was much happier single. I am accepting the possibility that I just might be better off alone.
