Need a reason to smoke, but can't find one?
When it comes to school, my career has been paved with bumps in the road. I got my G.E.D in 2007, then got my High School diploma a year later. I am one of few people to have both a diploma AND a G.E.D, which is a nice feeling.
Granted, I should of graduated in 2004 like the rest of my peers, but life likes to mess with you, but at least I did it nearly 4 years later. All of this has been to get to my main goal, which is college. Since I was a wee lad, it has been my main focus. Maybe I watched Animal House too much as a child. lol Well, anyways, I found out the other day I got accepted to the University I applied to, AND I was given a 2k dollar academic scholarship as well. Needless to say, I am STOKED! So if you ever needed a reason to have a smoke, here it is, smoke to my continued academic success.  loland what the heck, if anyone else here got accepted to the University of their choice, post your excitement here. Same goes for you parents who have kids heading off to college. Lets all smoke to there continued success as well. Smokes em if ya's gots em!

Big Congrats! I had a bit of a similar situation - I graduated from high school on time and got into the college I wanted, even had a soccer scolarship. BUT I also thought college was going to be like Animal House (and thats what I made it, I had a blast but I didn't go to class at all, I didn't even know where most of them were) big suprise - I ended my first semester with the Blutarski - a 0.00 GPA, I'm not kidding at all. Needless to say coming home after that semester was no fun. I just wanted to party and thats what I did, for several years after that as well, I finally decided that I really wanted to go back and get my degree. When I was 23 I went back to full time school, worked full time, and got it done. I graduated when I was 26. That may not seem so bad but my parents are both in education and they were not happy with me at all. I'm not trying to steal your thunder here, I just want to make the point that when you want something bad enough no one can stop you. Nobody (including my parents) thought I would ever finish college, they all said "once you quit you will never go back, nobody ever does". I used that as motivation when things got tough. I know you will achieve your dreams and I wish you the best of luck. Please keep us posted on how things are going.

Congrats to you! It's time consuming and hard work but will pay off. I remember reading about a woman who wanted to go to law school at the age of 51. She was concerned that she would be around 56 when she would graduate, so 5 years of college at her pace. The reply was, how old will you be in 5 years anyway?
Point is, it's never too late. Even if it takes awhile. Took me 12 years to get my degree!

Like to extend thank you to everyone else who wished me luck and congratulated me. I appreciate it.
 I got to fill out the financial aid forms, which are spouse to be done in April, but I didn't think I'd get accepted for the fall. Hopefully I can still get it. Anyone know if having to do it this late matters?
