but you know if that happens then it will be stated that LSU had the homefield advantage and USC played the best game but there was no overcoming the sheer magnitude of a Louisiana ballgame.

Yep. The University of Self Centerness will always have an excuse. Make's me wonder how a nice guy like Reggie Bush survived it out there. Must have been his football ability.

Im with you. Kirk damn near took over the term Admiral Douche Bag after I heard that...no offense Tom

Yep, even if USC is the best team, which is impossible to say until it happens in January, I think people should learn from last year when everyone said OSU was sooo good and got their asses handed to them.

Re: Lsu / Va Tech

Well my point is the rankings change every week. And as of right now, LSU has played 2 games and outshined everyone. Not saying USC wont be good, but at this point in time even if just for this week...LSU appears to be #1 with what they have shown. If USC comes back and has a great game and voters wanna put them back to #1 then go for it. But its hard to say USC is #1 and LSU is #2 by the first 2 weeks IMHO. Rankings should be interchangable by each week relating to each teams play thus far in the season.

If there's one thing that I learned since the 2003 fiasco, it's that the voters LOVE USC and it is reflecting in the poll...obviously. I've learn to be patient and hopefully this year will pan out to a show-down in N.O.!

Wasn't in LA where Vince Young beat USC? So much for homefield advantage for an average team!!!

If LSU and USC play on the moon, LSU would win. If LSU and USC play in China, LSU would win. LSU is a better and faster team.

I'm not an LSU fan and I can't stand Les Miles, so it makes me chuckle when I think that 19 of the starters he puts on the field are from Nick Saban's era. I wonder what kind of team they're going to have in a year or so when Saban's recruits leave.

That's funny...

http://rivals100.rivals.com/teamrank...pe=0&Year=2007

Stop moping about Miles playing with Saban's players because in 2 years when Saban leaves your sorry excuse of a team for more money then your next coach will be playing with "Saban's recruits"...and don't act like it won't happen, he ain't the next Bear Bryant by a long shot.

See ya in Bama'

Re: Lsu / Va Tech

The good news about the loss is that the Freshman Tyrod Taylor has been named the starting quarterback. The guy was a Parade All American as a dual threat QB, and while it seemed the media kept hinting he was not going to commit to Va. Tech. A lot of folks committed to Va. Tech because they knew he was going to commit. Seems to my FOG memory, he was not even the top rated QB in the state. That fellow sighed on with UVA.

Jerry Clayborn was the coach at Tech before I arrived, and then it was Sharpe and Dooley. Sharp was fired, and that was one of them hit and egg with a sledge hammer deals. Dooley‘s record was just good enough to keep him employed, but there was a real mess when he left, bankrupt the word I had heard. Not to mention the stadium lights that were put in under his tenure. The ones they had to be burn occasional just to keep them running, since there was no need to have a night game when no one televised a 2-8 team.

Then along came this dude named Beamer. The wife had graduated by then and we had moved to Harrisonburg, Va. Being new to the town, we went to a Hoakie club meeting on a whim, seed if we could meet some folks. This Beamer dude was the guest speaker. Low and behold he was talking about going for National Championship and making the one time basement dweller of the old Southern League, now Independent Va. Tech, a national power. On the drive home, we laughed and laughed and found ourselves laughing about that for years.

Then it was the Big East, football only, and then after many years, 7 or 8 seems about right, the finally were able to be members of the basketball league. And then along came the ACC looking to expand. It was the Governor of Va which told Virginia that it would not be a good idea to vote against Tech joining the ACC, we all need a helping hand along the way.

And so here we are, after a Hemingway short story, about Tech. Enjoy the euphoria of LSU, and I hope the hell that they get the chance to kick USC in the ash, and they woop up on Tennessee, and Florida. (Did you know that AUBURN is really and acronym, Alabama usually beats us round November). And just be happy with what you have, cause the LSU head coach is a heading to Michigan next year. And check who has the most wins (active) behind B. Bowden, and Joe Pop. (hint: it could be Beamer). This might not be Va. Tech‘s year, but the rest of this year and the next 2 or 3 could be very interesting.

"Sorry excuse of a team" huh? I hope you enjoy LSU's second and last chance at a NC. LSU could never have the tradition that Bama has and Bama will play for many, many more NC's in the future. LSU in a couple of years will be happy with winning 4 games in the SEC. LSU was NOTHING before NS arrived and now that his players are leaving, they'll be nothing again. Don't you think its strange that a coach that only recruited for two weeks ended up with a #10 recruiting team? Kinda makes you wonder why LSU is only ranked 4th when Lessie had an entire recruiting season to pull in recruits. NS proved that top players want to play for him and that they want to play at Bama. What about this coming recruiting year??? http://rivals100.rivals.com/TeamRank...rt=0&year=2008

Its funny that LSU fans are NS haters now that he's back in the SEC. If he came back to LSU, you guys would love him like you did before. I personally don't think he's the next BB, no one will be the next BB. IF NS leaves for more money, so be it. We'll find another coach and STILL have a better program than Lessie and LSU.

What a typical Alabama fan reply to a typical LSU fan statement. REALITY CHECK: LSU had a good team before Nick Saban and Les Miles. Alabama has had good teams since Bear Bryant. ITS COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND IT RUNS IN CYCLES FOR GOOD PROGRAMS! ALABAMA AND LSU ARE BOTH GOOD PROGRAMS!
