Don't hate the player, hate the game. Orlando's franchise is a joke and has been since what's his name bricked two free throws to give away game one to the Rockets back in the 96 finals. I wouldn't blame Tracy for the results in Orlando. Weisbrod is a two time loser. Who in their right freaking mind would take a couple of hacks like Francis and Cato off our hands for a freaking superstar.

Some guy on the radio said T-Mac reminded him of Maximus coming off the floor of the Coliseum after he rallied the gladiators to whip the chariot warriors in the first battle. The other gladiators keep the people away from Maximus as he strode off triumphantly, totally oblivious to the pandemonium happening around him. The Rockets did the same thing after last night's game.

T-Maximus.

Re: Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks (Series Winner)

you know of a better deal that was on the table?
tracy demanded a trade. he wanted us to select okafor in the draft and thought dwight would be a huge project (big mistake)
we should have just let him leave us with nothing?
weisbrod doesn't put up with whiney prima donnas (see cato's latest antics and doug christie) I like that about him

Re: Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks (Series Winner)

I don't get Magic fans. You guys are too nice. Weisbrod is an idiot and a laughing stock in the rest of the league but you guys (I read the message boards) keep defending him. McGrady played like a dog because he wanted out of a leaderless franchise. First thing they should do is fire Weisbrod and get someone in there that can evaluate talent. We used to dog our GM for being clueless but by gawd he dumped every player I would have dumped this year and brought in a bunch of gamers. Prima Donna with little game (reminds me of Finley in this regard, has been never was) Jim Jackson for David Wesley. Check. John Barry for Tyrone Liu? Haha. The coup de grace was getting Mike money James for nothing. Meanwhile Weisbrod's big in season move is to trade a real commodity in Mobley for Christie. OMG.

We watched Francis for several years in Houston. He'll never win. He's a player who can't/won't hit the shot without putting the ball on the floor first. Uh no, doesn't work that way in this league. Catch and shoot Stevie. Oh you can't? We know. His decision making will never get better either. Cato? A bum. I feel for you guys.

I guess I should say sorry for being a condescending jerk. Sports does that to rabid (stupid) fans sometimes. Good luck in Orlando. Who knows, with Howard making great strides the magic may return.

Re: Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks (Series Winner)

weisbrod is doing ok for me
this is only his first full season as a bball gm
he unloaded a ton of useless contracts in that trade as well
picking jameer nelson and signing turkoglu and tony battie were good moves as well.
and yea cato is a lazy bum these days but he's also an expiring contract.
mcgrady quit on the team just like his cousin vinny did in toronto. I don't like that.
of course I'm real jealous watching him torch the mavs in the playoffs but dwight howard is going to do big things for this franchise

oh and on the christie trade:
mobley was gonna opt out and we weren't about to offer his old ass a big contract.
we dumped him for what we thought was a defender who could play the point guard on occaision who has an expiring contract (and we unloaded michael bradley on them)
doug christie is a total bum but after all is said in done he'll be attractive trade bait to be packaged with cato before the deadline.
things are not as bad as they appear in o-town.

T-mac is a baller and is incredibly ill. I hope Houston does well. His cousin, on the other hand, is a mama's boy and he totally punked the city of Toronto. He deserves to go down.

I keep seeing this over and over and my response is look inward. What's the common thread in all these lay down on the job to force a trade antics? An organization that doesn't have a clue how to build a winner. Terrell Owens saw his career spiralling down the tubes with a clue-less franchise and I'm afraid it's the same with these two. It says something about their character that their not just going to go through the motions and play out a string on a loser. They want to win. T-Mac is a model citizen now. I think you have to lay most of the blame at the feet of management for not selling them harder on the plan. But then you need a plan to sell. Couldn't the Magic have gone out and trade for Barry, James, Sura and Wesley? Sure they could have but they prefer to pick up broken down Hills and washed up Christies. And trade Ben Wallace. They are a poor judge of talent. Maybe it's something more but how the heck can you not sell a player on SoFla?

Several years ago Hakeem Olajuwon faked an injury to try and get hated out of Houston. The team doctor said his groin was fine. Then he bitched and bitched about the team and made himself into a villian (like McGrady did). Management told him to shut up and play. They said they weren't trading him no matter how much he cried. They were in charge. And he blinked. Two years later they started a fabulous championship run for back to back titles.

Re: Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks (Series Winner)

hill isn't broken down
he shot 50% from the field this season shooting jumpers

and hakeem must not have been able to opt out of his contract that year as mcgrady was going to do and leave us with nothing.

in today's nba the 'stars' have all the power. not management
and heartless quitters like tracy and his cousin are proving it.
tracy would have had a much brighter future with dwight than with yao. and had he waited out the offseason he would have seen that

It doesn't matter what year of a contract a prima donna is in, if they want out, they can try and poison a team and force a trade. It's up to the GM and owner to put them in their place or play psychologist and find out what motivates the player. I am sick of hearing how McGrady's a quitter. The Magic quit on him when they made dumb trades and brought in rookie coaches. Bad franchise. If you're going to try and make Hill into anything other than a 5 star bust you're wearing some mighty rosey glasses.

Re: Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks (Series Winner)

hard to call the guy a bust
after sitting out for four years he shoots 50 percent and averages 20 points a game.

weisbrod wasn't the gm that made the decisions that tmac didn't like anyway
it was gabriel and he was fired midway through the season.
