Solid team, winning the games that they should win. They have one of the top quarterbacks in the country in Matt Ryan. Currently undefeated and leading the ACC, probably ranked a little high. After Notre Dame next week they will have some games that will tell how good they are when they play Virginia Tech, Florida State and Miami. They have not been ranked this high since 1984.

The Missouri receivers aren't fast enough or just plain talented enough to compete against DB's like South Carolina's or LSU's, etc...
You forget one thing...

Speed isn't everything. While it is important, the average height of SC's defensive backs is under 6 feet. That won't help them cover our two starting tight ends that are 6'6" each. Our running game isn't top notch by any means, but it's not lackluster. There is always the threat of Daniel running, and while he's not that fast, he's quick enough and suprisingly hard to get to for a big guy (6' and 230).

I'm not hating on SC at all, I just think it's hard to compare two teams that haven't met. SC beat GA, but GA has two losses. Their only loss was to LSU, which is understandable. We've only beat Nebraska and Illinois so far (for teams that count, but that definitely compares to being able to beat GA and I think even Kentucky.

Also, as far as strength of schedule, SC might have a slightly harder schedule, but playing Nebraska, at Oklahoma, TX Tech, at Colorado, TX A&M, at Kansas State and at KU (who's a big suprise this year), isn't exactly a weak schedule.

Missouri might not have been tested too much yet, but they will get tested and we'll see just how good they are.

I would agree. They haven't really been tested by anyone, with their best win coming from a GA Tech team that has looked both pretty good and awful this year. They have been beating the teams they are suppose to though, which is more than the vast majority of teams so far this season. Their offense is solid led by a very underrated Matt Ryan. Their defense is pretty untested and it will be interesting to see how the respond in 2 week at VA Tech.

I think this is a really good point. People are quick to forget that the Big Ten went 2-1 against the SEC last bowl season, just because of the Florida-Ohio St. game. Playing smash-mouth football for 4 quarters is hard and it definitely wore down their opponents as it got late in the game.

Also, being careful when comparing two teams that haven't played each other is very important. Just because Team A beat Team B and Team B beat Team C doesn't necessarily equate to Team A being better than Team C. Anything can happen out on the field.

That's what they said about us and Kentucky and we shut them down and sorry, but I think it's agreed upon that Kentucky's offense is a bit better. We shut down LSU's pass defense even easier. The difference was that LSU could run. Also remember, I said that there's more than speed: it's talent. After the teams USC has played, to still have such well-ranked pass defense, it's very good. I don't think you can really tell me that MO's offense is better than LSU's or Kentucky's. USC has a much harder schedule. Don't even say "Slightly." Your Colorados, TX Techs, Kansas, etc are our Floridas, LSU'a, GA'a, Tennessee, etc, and there's no comparison there, but I think that's understood, which is why MO isn't ranked above USC, even though their record is better. There will probably be 3 ranked teams in that group that you mentioned by the end of the season. I wouldn't compare playing Kentucky with Nebraska and Illinois or comparing GA(we played at GA and it's a big SEC rivalry that people back home in MO don't understand).
Once MO knocks off OK, I'll give MO credit for being a legit competitor, but I wasn't that impressed with the overall talent out there. Just also keep in mind that a lot of the players out there on MO couldn't make it at schools like USC, FLA, LSU, etc... Like I said, I know a handful of guys on that team and they'll tell you the same thing.
I think South Florida could be a legit unbeaten team, LSU obviously is, etc... I just want to see MO beat OK and then I'll be convinced, even though OK is a bit fuzzy right now. I'll root for them and hope they win, but I don't know yet, we'll see when it happens. I guess we'll see how good they are when the bowl season rolls around and the good out of conferance games are played.
Good little debate here, although we're both MO fans, haha

Agreed on it being a fun, friendly debate. I will give SC the harder schedule, but you haven't played all those teams yet this year. I think at this point in the season, you've had a slightly harder schedule. (see, I said slightly again. )

Anyway, my point was that MU doesn't have an easy schedule. As you may know, but don't want to mention, CO, TX Tech and TX A&M are very close to being top 25 and are all receiving a lot of votes. CO beat OU already as well. I'd hardly call MU's schedule easy. I mean, it's not like Ohio State's schedule.

Oh, and I also agree that OU is a huge test for us. But IF we do beat them at their house, we are hardly going to be able to sail through to an undefeated season.

Re: NCAA Poles...Week 7!

I agree, it's not "easy" because I find it funny that OSU gets special treatment in the polls and BCS, yet they have a laughable, easier than MO and the same freaking record right now. All well, it'll work out in the season and bowls, eventually.
I'll be cheering for MO against Oklahoma. They better come to play.
If MO wins against OU, I think the rest of the season will be relatively easy, although I know it's hard for anyone to go undefeated. If they're that good, it shouldn't be much of a problem with those other teams.

I don't really think OSU is that overrated. Their defense is better than any in the country except LSU. Their offense, while they haven't played any strong defenses yet, has been able to score on just about everyone. I don't think the Big Ten is as easy this year as everyone is saying it is, it is just that it is a different group of teams this year that is good, much like the Big 12. For right now at least, I think the order of the top 5 in the AP is pretty accurate.

Re: NCAA Poles...Week 7!

We'll see. Just remember how good everyone thought OSU was last year and they got annhilated by an SEC team that lost to Auburn, should've lost to USC and didn't really beat any SEC teams that badly. Just food for thought, and as I said, we'll see in the bowls.

The real test of a football team is on the field, not in the mind of pollsters.

That being said, LSU! LSU! LSU! GEAUX TIGERS!

So long as we squeak out at least 6 wins, get a bowl bid, I get another opportunity to attend and smoke a few more cigars.

Hook 'em
