Torre catches a break today...

If by now you haven't heard, NYY owner George Steinbrenner announces on October 7th that if the Yankees lost the division series, he would not seek to renew contract with manger Joe Torre.

So my discussion question is, what will Torre do after this season? Obviously Steinbrenner (who may be regarded as the biggest horse's ass in pro baseball) has made it clear that Torre isn't sleeping in his bed anymore...so will Torre seek a new job, or will he accept a new contract with the Yankees if they take the division?

Looks like we might know in the morning - I think Joe will retire

Looks like the Yankees will lose. I don't like the Yanks, but I respect Torre. Hope he leaves; he deserves better than Steinbrenner.

I agree...I wonder if the Mets will be looking for a manager?

Re: Torre catches a break today...

I have all the respect in the world for Torre and I hope he gets what he deserves. Although that may be retirement by his own choice (which would end a heck of a managerial career) I'd love to see him take a job with another team and help turn them around or lead them to championships. He's a great guy and deserves better than being threatened by someone who does their team more harm than good. Steinbrenner didn't do that Yankees any good with what he said and is really going to hurt the team next year with what he did. Best of luck to ya Joe.

I put the over/under on Girardi being named Yankees manager at 1 month.

Break Over -

Another disappointing season for Steinbrenner, and I couldn't be happier. Do you think someday he might realize that you can't buy a team?

Torre and A-Rod in Philly? Stranger things have happened.
