Re: NCAA AP Rankings...Week 8
Good stuff, as long as LSU or South Carolina don't lose again, one of them will probably be in the NC game. The BCS will be out in a couple hours though, so we'll see. Lots of football left though.

Re: NCAA AP Rankings...Week 8
IMPOSSIBLE for them both to go undefeated the rest of the season because if they did then they would meet in the SECC game and the winner would MAYBE then have a shot at the NC game.

Glad to see LSU didnt drop too far in the polls so far. Hopefully the bayou bengals can regroup and heal, they are VERY banged up from what I understand and dont have an easy 2nd half of the season. If they can pull together and stand strong against the rest, they are still in a good position to reclaim #1 at the end of the season.

![]() I actually didn't like it when LSU was #1, to me, it's too big of target with alot of the season left. I'll be happy if they stay in the hunt till the end and to to the championship game. |

Re: NCAA AP Rankings...Week 8
I don't think this is that out of the question at the end of the year. That is a really good South Florida team and even though Ohio State hasn't really played anybody this year, they are a lot better than what people are giving them credit for. Don't worry though, Michigan will knock them out at the end of the season ruining any title hopes.

Re: NCAA AP Rankings...Week 8
Yet another year when the BCS ratings manage to overrate the Big 10. The hardest game Ohio State has this year is Michigan. That's not saying a whole lot, so to have them ranked #1 while they've only played one ranked team (Purdue #23) is completely unfair to the other divisions that have harder teams and many more ranked teams.

I agree. Ohio State has, what appears to be an easier schedule. However, the bottom line is, that Ohio State is winning the games that it should. Look at USC. They lost a game that, at least in my mind, they shouldnd't've. There are other teams who have lost games that they should have won. In the other argumentative thread about this, Dan Wetzel said it, it's not Ohio State's fault that they are ranked #1, is it? I believe it is by default more than anything (without going into discussion about the team). If you want to talk about putting this 1 loss team over that 0 loss team, how is that fair? Tell me how any team could win every game and not be considered for the championship. Now, I understand that bitching and moaning about mid season rankings is about as useless cloned cats, but this is also why I love college football. You could flip-flop the top 25, because nobody is going the the championship game this weekend or next. This next 6 weeks is going to be awesome and I hope to watch every single minute of it! Go local team and/or College! |

Re: NCAA AP Rankings...Week 8
I think this is another year that will add emphasis to the NCAA playoff idea. Clearly the polls and the BCS are flawed. Sure there's a lot of time left and USF may likely lose and not see the Sugar Bowl... but what if they don't? They have no ranked teams left on their schedule.
And then you've got Boston College right behind them. Sure they're 7-0, but only two of those 7 teams have winning seasons so far (not counting UMass), and none of them are currently in the Top 25. They only have 1 ranked opponent left, and stand a good chance of winning that game. LSU has already played 4 Top 25 teams, 2 of them in the Top 10. If BC wins out, LSU gets screwed for losing 1 very close game after dominating most of their other opponents. I can't imagine there's anyone out there who believes BC would beat LSU if they played each other, so why is BC ranked higher? Same goes for USF. I'm going to go ahead and say the SEC championship will be a bigger game than the NC, and I hope USF makes it all the way, screwing LSU and all the others along the way with their weak schedule and over-rated poll placement. Maybe that'll be another nail in the coffin of the ridiculous BCS rules. Personally I'd love to see LSU in the NC game. I'm a VT alum, I hated watching LSU destroy my team, but no other team has impressed me as much this year. I still think they're the most deserving of the NC game, despite a close loss last weekend. I've got my hopes up that VT gets revenge on BC for last year's Thursday night humiliation. The team's healthy, it's at home, and they've got a score to settle so with a little luck we can destroy BC's title hopes. |
