ALL DAY
It's tough to be a fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Watching them almost give away the game Sunday to the bears was painful. That said...
Adrian Peterson was awesome!! Just amazing. A couple tidbits about how good he was Sunday. Splitting carries with Chester Taylor btw. # Adrian Peterson set a team record for most yards rushing in a game with his 224-yard day on the ground. Chuck Foreman held the previous record with 200 against Philadelphia on Oct. 24, 1976. Ted Brown (1983) and Robert Smith (199 # Peterson set a team record for most scrimmage yards against the Bears with 233, besting Bill Brown’s mark of 226 on Dec. 13, 1964. Randy Moss moves down to third in team annals with 204 against Chicago on Nov. 4, 1999. # Peterson became the first Vikings player to have two runs of 50 yards or more in the same game with his 73- and 67-yard touchdown runs. He also set a team record for longest run by a rookie, breaking his previous record of 55 yards from the Green Bay game on Sept. 30. Before this season, Fran Tarkenton held the rookie record with a 52-yard touchdown run against Los Angeles on Nov. 5, 1961. # Peterson set a new team record for most combined yards in a game with 361. That beat the previous mark, 278 by Darrin Nelson against Green Bay on Nov. 13, 1983, by almost 80 yards. # Peterson’s 361 combined net yards ranks third in NFL history, trailing Glyn Milburn’s 404 (Denver vs. Seattle, 12/10/95) and Billy Cannon’s 373 (Houston vs. N.Y. Titans, 12/10/61). # This was only the third time in team history the Vikings had two rushing and receiving plays of 60 yards or more in the same game with Peterson’s 67- and 73-yard runs and Troy Williamson’s 60-yard touchdown reception. The Vikings had also accomplished that on Oct. 1, 2000 when Robert Smith had a 61-yard touchdown run and Randy Moss had a 61-yard touchdown reception against Detroit, and on Dec. 3, 1995 when Amp Lee had a 66-yard touchdown run and Cris Carter had a 60-yard touchdown pass against Tampa Bay. # Peterson’s three rushing touchdowns tied a team record for most in a game. He also set a team mark for most 100-yard games (four) in a season by a rookie, surpassing Chuck Foreman’s three. # Peterson’s 224 yards rushing rank fifth by a rookie in NFL history for a single game. Ahead him are Mike Anderson’s 251 (Denver vs. New Orleans, 12/3/00), Corey Dillon’s 246 (Cincinnati vs. Tennessee, 12/4/97), Jim Brown’s 237 (Cleveland vs. Los Angeles, 11/24/57) and Clinton Portis’ 228 (Denver vs. Arizona, 12/29/02) # Peterson’s 607 yards rushing after five games is a team record, breaking Robert Smith’s mark of 565 set in 1997. His performance ranks second in NFL history by a rookie after five games, second only to Eric Dickerson’s 645 for Los Angeles in 1983.

Re: ALL DAY
He was playing on a different level then everyone else in that game (with the exception of maybe Hester, who is just ridiculous.) I have no idea why the Bears would kick to him instead of just kicking it short and trying to get to OT.
That being said, I really wanted to go through my TV and slap Brian Baldinger. Jesus Christ was he on AP's nuts. "Best running back in the NFL today" Be real...he's having a hell of a season. But he is still far from the best. He could/should get there one day though.

Re: ALL DAY
I agree one great day, best in the NFL does not make. Espcially since LT2 put up 100+ and four touchdowns. He is the best in the nfl and has proven it for several years. Still Adrian Petereson is starting to look like the second coming of Eric Dickerson. Regardless he was just fun to watch. As much as it must of driven Bears fans nuts you still have to appreciate a outstanding performance. Same goes for Hester, drives me nuts, why you would ever kick to him I don't know, but still fun to watch. Jaw dropping.
To what you said about Baldinger. In general I hate the man love these reporters shower on a few select players Brett Favre being the worst. They would bottle his farts and try to sell it for 200$ a bottle. (Packer fans would buy and would smell better. As a Vikings fan in Packer country I needed to vent that.) I prefer balanced analysis but I'm sure hyping the big names is their job. Even Brady and Manning make poor decisions have off games etc...

Re: ALL DAY
Man when the game was at 31-17 I thought it was over and then the porous Vikings pass Defense goes into effect. When they tied it up I was getting so pissed it wasn't funny. Less than 2 minutes to go in the game and Hester beats you deep for a 81 yard TD??? THE ONLY thing the vikings safety was there for was to keep the play in front of him.
All that being said Adrian is a freakin' BEAST!!! Just imagine where the hell we would be without him this year. We would easily be winless right now if not for him. |

Re: ALL DAY
We (UofO) played him twice while he was at OU.
The thing I really noticed aside from the speed, size, etc., was how punishing he got late in the 4th quarter. He stopped making cuts and just started hammering our defense physically. Hope he stays healthy (now that we don't have to play him anymore!). |

Re: ALL DAY
1-4 we might have still beat Atlanta. The crazy thing is yesterday 224 yards and he still had 2 fewer carries than Chester Taylor. He averaged 11.2 yards a carry. Now is he the next Eric Dickerson or Corey Dillon? Not that either is bad but one HOF one good.
