Would you expect anything less from someone who Pimps a homerun down 6 runs? Or when he hits a homerun, occasionally drops his chew right on homeplate? He may be a great athlete, but he definitely isn't adding much other than that to the game.

This is nothing new for him. Over the course of several seasons you get used to it. He still makes me cringe when I see him going for a fly ball.

I don't think that he is an ego maniac, my feeling is that he is just nucking futs. There are stories about the Red Sox front office having to call him and tell him to either cash or deposit pay checks so that they can close out the books for that time period. There are also stories about him being incredibly generous to team mates and his community. Unlike most Sox fans, I don't like the guy, I feel that he has the potential to lose more games in the field than he can win with his bat. Just my

He said nothing that wasn't the truth. He said, they will not give up and try thier hardest but if they do not win, there is always next year and it's not the end of the world. Yeah, that's bad.
 What do you want him to say? If he says "Yes, we will win" and they don't, he really looks stupid. This molehill became a mountain for no reason. Just remember, what he said is simply the truth. BTW: He has only hit .429 with 4 homers and 11 rbi's in the post-season. I can see why people are upset with him. |

He has had a tough relationship with the Media. There are a few moments like this throughout each season. Half the time it is his fault for not running out a ground ball or making a mental error in the field, but a lot of times he is taken out of context.
He is the exact opposite of an egomaniac though. Sure he loves the praise he gets on the field. But if anything, he would prefer to be in a city were he is invisible off the field and can enjoy his privacy and never have a mic stuck in his face.

If you listen to people who know him, the guy doesn't seem to have a malicious bone in he body. He's just a different dude, a very different dude.
