Will the Redskins Defense Beat the Pats Next Sunday?

For the first time this season, the Patriots will face a real defense next Sunday?

Being a realist I am not expecting the Skins to beat the Patriots. The patriots are just a very solid team this season but I do not expect the Patriots to rack up as many points next Sunday. I am predicting a 20-17 game.

Are they playing themselves next week? Otherwise, no, they are not facing real defense. I will put a fiver on that the Patriots score more than 20 on your team.

Cmon now, look at the stats. The Skins defense is in the top 3 in the league.
NE has not faced a decent defense yet until next Sunday. That being said, I still don't expect the Skins to beat the Pats but I don't expect Tom Brady to be able to throw down the field like he has been doing.

The Redskins gave up 13 to the Dolphins, 19 to the Cardinals and 24 to the Giants. 3 Offensive juggernauts.
And you think this defense will hold the Pats to 20?

Your loyalty is admirable but I don't think their defense can hold the Patriots to 20 points or less.

And at least 1 TD pass to Moss.

Look at the defenses the Pats have faced and their rankings out of 32 teams:

28-Jets
16-Chargers
31-Bills
29Bengals
32-Brown
7-Cowboys
27-Dolphins

Next Sunday
4-Washington Redskins. 3rd and 2nd previous weeks.

The Redskins defense has not faced a worthy offense either. Against mediocre offenses, they have surrendered near or over 20 points. The Redskins gave up 13 to the Dolphins, 19 to the Cardinals and 24 to the Giants.

Detriot was ranked the Number 1 passing offense the week they played the Redskins and they held them to 3 points and I believe under 150 total yards.

Re: Will the Redskins Defense Beat the Pats Next Sunday?

Cowboys = #7 and they scored forty frickin eight. I think it has more to do with the offense. The Pats will score, it's the offense that needs to keep the Pats off the field and Jason Campbell doesn't have the ability to do that...and I like Jason Campbell. Pats are just too good, your best bet is for them to shoot themselves in the foot (e.g. penalties, turn overs). Good luck

O.K. but going into that game, the Lions offense had faced Oakland, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Chicago. Wowee.
So what happened to the Redskins defense when they played Miami, Arizona and New York?

I agree the offense will have to produce or at least eat up a lot of clock. Your point about the Cowboys is good expect that cowboys have played all teams with losing records except the Giants and Pats.

Clinton Portis is overdue for a big game. I wouldn't expect Jason Campbell's passing game to help much but if the Skins can run the ball well against the Pats and the Skins defense can throw some missiles (Landry and Taylor) at the Pats receivers then they can keep the score low enough to stay in the game.

The defense played very well in those games. It was the Skins offense that needed to step up. If they offense doesn't step up this Sunday then it will be a long game but I think the Pats are going to be overlooking the Skins this week anticipating their game with the Colts in two weeks.

Everything will have to go your way for the Redskins to win. I don't think you'll win a low scoring game. They have too many weapons. Dallas stopped them numerous times on the first two downs but they kept converting third downs. It killed us. Portis will have to have a huge game for the Skins to succeed. If he has a good game it will open up the passing game. With all that said you'll have to score 30 points to win.

When the Cowboys lost last week it was the first time that I can remember where I wasn't too disappointed with the loss. I took it as a moral victory that we hung with them as long as we did.

As much as it hurts to say this, I don't expect the Skins to win next Sunday. I would just like to see them keep the score low and prove they can compete with the top team in the league.

I have to admit the Pats are in a league of their own right now.

I am fine with you looking at the statistics. Like I said, a fiver on whether your team's defense can hold the Pats under 20. I am just checking to see how much faith you have in those same stats you tout.
