Detroit Red Wings

I don't know how many of you at CS are Wings fans, as it seems most people who aren't from Detroit detest the Red Wings, but for those of you who are, I'd like hear your thoughts on this season so far. Also, this can be used as a game-by-game discussion thread.

Last night's game was awesome. The Wings are dominating on the road and Osgood is looking great. The Zetterberg line is possibly the best line in hockey right now and for good reason. The Wings are just looking great right now.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

The Wings look like the class of the West so far. Zetterberg is a force, Datsyuk looks good and Holmstrom continues to do what he does best. Osgood has been incredible and will make it tough for Hasek if Dom isn't right on his game when he gets off the IR. Rafalski has fit in nicely and may be a better fit than Schneider was for the Wings. Lidstrom is Lidstrom, and Filppula looks like he might be a player too. And of course Chelios gives hope to the old guys.

I might be the only Blackhawks fan you will ever meet that actually like the Wings. Only time I root against the Wings is when they play the Hawks.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

I catch the odd Wings game on Versus but feel pretty much out of the loop this year. They are coming to Vancouver in February so I'm hoping to score some tickets and trek up there for the game.

I miss the Joe.

They're doing great, I definitely thing the Zetterberg line is the best in hockey. I try to stream as many games down here in houston as I can. I'd get center ice but I'm moving soon and will be dumping comcast asap... but I digress.

Did you catch what Barry Melrose said about the best team in the NHL? check it out: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/...88889&n8pe6c=2

I can't stand Melrose... I've disliked him for years. I don't have a problem with him thinking Ottawa is the best team, but how can he say that Ottawa has the best line, better defense, and better goaltending... are you kidding me? The guy has been a wings hater since he wasn't offered the head coaching job years ago when he was coaching our minor league team and Bryan Murray was fired. Who'd he get "passed over" for? Scotty Bowman. How the hell could you justify a grudge from not getting hired over the greatest hockey coach ever? I'd love to shave that stupid mullet off his head.

Huge Wings fan here. Yep, as long as injuries don't creep up on 'em, I'm seeing a great season ahead. I hope Kronwall gets back up and playing well soon...

Melrose has always dissed the Hawks too. The other night was the first time I ever heard him say anything good about them, while talking about Kane and Toews.

Nice haircut, Barry.

Melrose is a goof, always has been, but Ottawa is very good and if the wings don't have legs they'll be there...

You might be the only Blackhawks fan I'll ever meet period. I know TONS of people from Chicago.

The wings do look awesome this year, although I'm currently stuck down here in Atlanta so I haven't been able to follow them as closely as I'd like. Zetterberg looks almost unstoppable so far this year and then add in Datsyuk and Holmstrom and they should have no problem scoring enough goals. Osgood has been great between the pipes and possibly mix in the Dominator in the mix that become one hell of a goaltending combo. Lindstrom and Co. for defense and this could be a special year. They have disappointed me before in the playoffs after a great regular season however. Hopefully they'll bring the cup back to where it belongs...HOCKEYTOWN!

I love the Wings. I miss being in Michigan for the thrill of Hockeytown and my uncle's basement.

Melrose is an a$$ clown plain and simple. I detest him. The things that come out of his mouth are pure stupidity. During the lockout he was quoted on ESPN saying, "Some of these guys only making $500,000 a year. How are you going to feed a family on that?" Yeah. Idiot. I'm glad there is someone else who hates him as much as I do. To be honest, I don't know too many people who like him at all. How does this guy still have a job?? Must be the mullet.

Re: Detroit Red Wings

Great game to be at last night. WOW! It sucked that the Wings let Nashville come back in the third but the shoot out made it all worth while. Finally Datsuyk and Zetterberg broke their shoot out slumps, and in great form. Ozzie looked great as well and kept the win streak alive. I for one am more comfortable with him in net than the Dominator. Dom likes to flop on his back, throw his stick, and chase after loose pucks a little bit too much for my tastes.

GO RED WINGS!!!

Re: Detroit Red Wings

I went to the game last night. It was extra special because I got to watch the game from the owner's suite. Mike and Marion Illich (Red Wings/Tigers/Little Caesars' owners) were there, I got to meet and get autographs and photos from Joey Kocur, Dino Cicarelli, Micky Redmond and the extra special guest was Steve Yzerman. I got his book "#19" autographed.

Best of all, the Wings won in a shootout. It was the most memorable game ever!
