What if they had a BCS Championship game...
AND NOBODY CARED!!!
This season is another definitive proof of the need for a playoff in college football. When you've had as many top 5 teams upset as there has been this season then you wind up with good teams with weaker schedules rising to the top. I'm not knocking the accomplishment of teams like Missouri or West Virginia, but who outside of those states (or their alumni) really cares... |

I know it is because, LSU shot got burst, but I for one will not care. I can't really blame WV and Mizzou, but I don't think either are the best team in the country.

Re: What if they had a BCS Championship game...
This season has shown that a playoff system is needed more than any other year I can remember. There isn't a definitive powerhouse as most of the teams are pretty evenly matched at the top of the rankings. As long as corporate money is tied so deeply into the BCS though (time for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl!
) I don't see a playoff system coming anytime soon. |

Also, I think I would have cared more about the game if an undefeated Kansas was in the game. At least Kansas had a lot of firepower on offense and was fun to watch...too bad they layed an egg in the Mizzou game though

Re: What if they had a BCS Championship game...
until this year mizzou was not even a contender in the Big XII. But they are undefeated and to say they play a weak schedule would be an understatement. The Big XII hasn't been good for about 5 years now with the exception of Texas's national championship.

Re: What if they had a BCS Championship game...
The SEC was overrated this year. So was LSU, they have struggled the whole last half of the season.
As for nobody cares, this has been the most interesting College Football Season in years. And it was because of the upsets. There is no dominant team and some old powerhouses like Nebraska and ND are crap, and other schools like U-Conn, South Florida, Kansas & Missouri have helped make things interesting. Maybe we can have USC and LSU play each other in the Humanitarian Bowl to determine who the best team on paper is. But they were not the best teams on the field.

Re: What if they had a BCS Championship game...
Looking like a weak bowl season. The only good matchup that might happen is Ohio state vs. USC. If Hawaii gets a bid that might be exciting as well. Other then that...blah...

Re: What if they had a BCS Championship game...
A very interesting college football season this year. When a weak football program like UVA(favorite team BTW) can go 9-3 and probably play in a pretty good bowl game means something is amiss. I used to think that playing a tougher schedule was the ticket, not true anymore. All the teams in the top 25 thats played moderately difficult schedules have 2 or more losses, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, those three being in the the top ten in strength of schedule and LSU being 27th. Oklahoma I thought looking at their schedule before the season started was a shoe in for atleast a real run at the National Championship, then they lose to the first team they play with division 1 talent(Colorado). Kansas(SOS,88th) lost to the first good team they played this year, Missouri. BCS better hope Missouri loses to OU or TV is gonna have dismal numbers. WVU comming out of the Big Easy with a SOS of 58th. They beat some pretty good teams in their conference but none that scares to many. Great offense but not alot of success in Bowl games.
