Got a chance to meet him while he was at the Detroit Press Club back in the 70's with my Dad years ago,he treated me great and gave me a toy motor cycle .I'll have to dig out the picture of the 3 of us at the Club.
He was a cool guy I remember his black cane had a silver top that screwed off and it was loaded with scotch.

Re: Evel Knievel Passes Away at 69

My Dad and Bob (Evel) hung out in High School (Boys Central in Butte, MT). His oldest son Kelly and I are the same age. There are many, many Knievel stories from the 60s and 70s when I was growing up. I even managed to hustle him at golf a few times, but was always stiffed when it came time for him to pay up. When my Dad was inducted into the Montana sports hall of fame, Bob was the emcee and featured speaker. Let's just say that there wasn't a dry eye or sober person in the room

He was a natural showman. And he really did blow up the bathroom at the jail. I'll lift a scotch to Bob in tribute tonight. Of course, this means that end of Awful Knoffle as well (Bob always blamed his trouble on his twin, Awful Knoffle).

The Father of extreme sports and one of the greatest daredevils and showmen of all time. I had all the toys and watched almost every jump. Truly America had lost a great icon. May you RIP Evel.
