Thanks for the article. I did not see that anywhere.

Missing two years will be tough. But if someone is willing to give a 44 year old Vinny Testeverde a shot, Someone will take a chance on Vick, even if it is with Atlanta again. There are not a lot of quality QBs around at the moment.

I agree that he might get another chance but I don't see him going back to Atlanta after the way that he abused the owner's trust. Oakland since they don't care about character and need names to sell tickets?

He might have a different position when he gets out such as wide receiver.

Well, it is a pretty well known fact that Ron Mexico has Herpes....So there is still a chance he could come out of prison a Tight End.

Re: 23 Months for Vick

IMHO, I think the sentence is pretty lenient, and likely based on his celebrity. . . if he was simply a no name thug vs a high profile NFL thug, then he'd be closer to the maximum sentence. I do believe in redemption and I truly hope for his sake that he used this time to change his life and learn to live a stand up life. Unfortunately I have my doubts.

Correct. This sentence is for the federal charges. He still has state charges which are different than the federal ones.

how anybody could be involved in such cruelty to something as incocence as an animal is beyond me. Yes he lost alot, and a dog is not is the same as a human life. But I hope some Bubba in prison decides to make him his bride and play honeymoon night the whole time. May he leave prison carrying his but with a wheel barrow

Maybe he can get a job at one of those cigar shops in the mall.

Just a thought!

23 months is a gift. He did not get what he deserved. Ruination...complete and whole, that would be justice. May he never make another dollar playing football for the rest of his sorry life.

Electrocution, hanging, drowning...think of that the next time your dog happily greets you after a hard days work. He killed these dogs for no other reason than they lost him MONEY.

No amount of athletic prowess can compensate for moral depravity.

Why should Vick be suspended?

Ray Lewis was involved in a double homicide and was never suspended by the NFL. However he was fined $250,000. But then again it is a different commissioner.

There is a new commissioner and a NFL Personal Conduct Policy that was not in effect in 2000. He should have been suspended. But at the time, the NFL had no way to suspend him.

THe NFL was tired of thugs like Ray Lewis and others being involved in these types of scandals. I am suprised they did not put in a program like that after the Rae Carruth was convicted of murder. But the Players Unions always said a player should not be punnished for something that happens off the field.

I hope all sports adpt this kind of strict policy. You get tired of seeing a Pitcher getting arrested for Domestic Violence and not miss a start, an NBA player get caught trying to gring his Pot vrom Vancouver to Seattle, and not getting suspended, or another hockey player involved in a Drunk Driving accident.

Agreed,

I have dwelled a bit on the legal aspects in other threads concerning Vick (Interstate Gambling Ringleader/ Financier, Drug User, All around sh*tbag), but the cruelty aspect must be kept in perspective here too. There is a certain inhuman indifference concerning Vick that permeates this entire case. Vick's behavior throughout this case and after his plea bargain was truly shameful. I do not believe for a second that Vick is even remotely sorry for what he has done. I believe he is only sorry he got caught.

He deserves this sentence based on the merits of the case in which he was prosecuted, but in the sphere of sheer human decency he deserves a far greater punishment. He deserves to never play football again and to be universally hated as the total scum sucking sh*tbag he is. Vick's defenders do not impress me either; their arguments are specious at best and sound like a bunch of holocaust deniers who try to down play the carnage of the Third Reich. What Vick did was completely and utterly contemptible, and to reinforce that he duplicitously tried to lie and circumvent the law/public to save his cheap ass. Sentence too long? No. Should it be longer? I wouldn't complain. Do I think Vick got justice? That won't happen until after he dies.

Have fun Vick, I hope you are bunking with a dog lover...........
