23 Months for Vick

It looks like he is getting 23 months:

http://www.ajc.com/wireless/content/...vick_1211.html

I think that is fair. He has lost a hell of a lot of money over this as well.

But then again, since I live near Atlanta, almost all their games are on TV here. So instead of what might be a good game, we are stuck with watching the Falcons try to win a game with a third or fouth string QB. So I say maybe add another 5 years on for that!!!!

He is a true dumbass and deserves everything he is going to get.

I'm happy he's paying the price for such a horrible crime. Now, I hope the authorities don't stop here. This is a huge national problem and this should be the start. If not, Mike Vick was just a high profile target. I hope his penalty scares some people straight and saves the lives of harmless animals.

I have no respect for someone that intentionally hurts the helpless.

Can you say the next remake of the Longest Yard will be a documentary.

That's what I thought he would get.

Could've sworn I started poll on how much time he would get a few months ago??? Couldn't find it.

Re: 23 Months for Vick

I live in TN where Mary Winkler admitted to shooting her husband, a minister, while he was asleep in thier bed, and her children were in the next room... she served 7mos.....

Whether Vicks sentence was to little or to much, I dont know, but there seems to be some real discrepancies in the way our Justice system hands down it's sentencing.

So, will he ever play again???

Re: 23 Months for Vick

He's gonna have to do something for money. Looks like he has the NFL wanting $20M back, as well as a handful of creditors ranging from a couple hundred thousand to a couple million. I know he doesn't live from paycheck to paycheck, but that kind of money is hard to get easily.

Dumbass should have known better! DUMBASS!!

Canadian Football League will probably take him when he gets out.

No. He will have to serve a suspension when he gets out and the Falcons get the $20 million signing bonus back. He will play again. Probably not as a QB though.

Re: 23 Months for Vick

Federal sentencing guideline says 12 to 18 months AND he did plead guilty and admit to his crime.
He certainly deserved what he got but I don't know if the lengthy sentence was in the best interest of justice. If I'm a rich sports star facing charges in the future I may just decide to go to trial instead of cooperating and taking a plea bargin.
Just seems to me like he got a little extra unnecessary kick in the butt because he's rich and famous.

I think it is very fair. With time off for good behavior, he is looking at a year. If you give him a year and he is out in say 6 to 9 months in time for mini camp, that is just wrong. He deserved a little more than a slap on the wrist. And if he is a model prisoner, he will serve a year, do a few softball interviews with Jim Brown or Shannon Sharpe, and try to get a team to give him a shot.

As for other Superstar athletes who may face charges in the future....Lets hope this keeps them from doing the type of behavior that can get them a few years in Prison in the first place. Then they won't have any reason to hire high priced Lawyers.

Re: 23 Months for Vick

I thought if you were sentenced in Federal court you basically had to serve all the time. Anyone know how this works?

He definitely got what he deserved. I think he'll play in the NFL again. Regardless of how stupid he is in his personal life, he is still a talented football player and there will be a number of teams glad to take him up.

This is what's so messed up with this situation. I think the worst case scenario for Justice would be, as stated, that he gets out in time for mini camp in a year and goes on to earn obscene amount of money.
Personally I believe that had the NFL grow some balls and just banned the guy outright, he may get more justice in the justice system.
Just my on the subject.

I read that he can get up to 3 months off his time is all from this article. So, the earliest he would be out is Summer 2009.
