The Classy Patriots Handle Jets Taping Properly

Ah so it seems the Jets and Eric Mangenital were caught taping from the sidelines at last years Pats/Jets game and New England handled it with class by getting the offender removed and keeping it between themselves. Unlike the whiny Belichick wannabe who had to go to mommy and squeal.

Re: The Classy Patriots Handle Jets Taping Properly

"There's a lot of things that have happened in the past," Belichick said. "Really, the past is in the past."

Patriots players were also staying away from the issue, much as they did when Pittsburgh's Anthony Smith guaranteed a victory over New England last week.

"It just doesn't matter. Who cares?" safety Rodney Harrison said. "It has no impact whatsoever, just like when Smith made his comments. It has no impact. The game isn't won or lost through the media Monday through Saturday. It's won or lost on Sunday, 1 o'clock. It's whoever makes more plays."

Mangini claims they had permission to do the taping they were doing and New England changed their mind about granting it and asked them to leave. From what I've read, I can't tell what exactly happened, but I don't think it matters. Either way, it does sort of reinforce that the videotaping isn't as big a deal as it was made out to be.

When this whole "spygate" thing exploded there was one thing I never doubted: Many, many teams were doing it, the Pats are just the only ones who got punished for it. They may not all be doing it from the sidelines (the Jets' videographer was on the mezzanine level) but they're all doing it.

That's just not nice. Why would you ever wish physical harm on another person? Not cool.

Expected response from a PATs fan.

Re: The Classy Patriots Handle Jets Taping Properly

have to admit when i saw the title of this thread i thought it was a "tongue in cheek" delivery, but i guess you actually believe the patriots, belichick, brady, moss, et al actually have a modicum of class. a very talented team? yes, an all time great offense? yes, classy? give me a break.

as far as the jets taping, all the reports i've seen have indicated the jets were taping the game from the endzone in a legal fashion(as pretty much every team does), not from sideline to sideline in order to steal signals as the pats did.

Pat's fans, relax, revel in the wonderful season you're having. Also admit your team got caught cheating, it doesn't taint this year's great performance, just the previous super bowl titles that were decided in close games where a small competitive advantage like sign stealing would make a difference.

Re: The Classy Patriots Handle Jets Taping Properly

I will admit to a technical violation where they performed a legal act of taping from a spot that was recently deemed illegal. Tremendous over reaction from the press and from other fans which is now being recognized. By the way, the rule of not taping from the side lines was in a Sept 2006 memo with some room for interpretation, therefore no problems with our Super Bowl wins. You might want to look at how Shanahan violated league rules in his salary cap games while the Broncos were on their run.

Really classy response. I would never say "I hope Peyton Manning's arm gets broken" or anything of that nature. It's just uncalled for. Also, personally if I'm on the oppossing team it would mean much more to me trying to beat the Patriots with Brady at the helm. It wouldn't mean a thing to me if I beat the Patriots with Matt Cassell chucking the ball around.

IDK I think it's just BS if one team beats another because one of their best players went down. For example, IMO I don't think the Steelers ever would have made it to the Superbowl a couple years ago if not for the fact that Carson Palmer was injured in the first series of their playoff game. In my mind at least, the Steeler's Superbowl win that year will always have an "*" next to it. Could they have won that game if not for the injury? We'll never know.

Not wishing harm on anyone but it is the NFL and karma is a bitch....these are grown men with egos and some wont take kindly to that type of play.

Also, I dont care who beats them or if nobody beats them...the point was how "classy" is it to continually run up the score game after game while keeping your starters in late with the outcome determined. If Brady, Moss or whomever were to go down with an injury, how would the Patriot faithful react to that???? Just sayin, if it were to happen, I wouldn't shed a tear, thats all. Get over yourselves.
