Looks like they are letting CBS and NBC televise the Pats game on Saturday. That is great since my Cable system does not have the NFL network!!!

NEW YORK (AP) -- After weeks of insisting they wouldn't cave in, NFL officials did just that Wednesday. Now all of America can see the Patriots' shot at history.

Saturday night's game between New England and the New York Giants on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs, will be simulcast on CBS and NBC.

The Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season.

"We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans," commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement after the league announced it was reversing course. "What we have seen for the past year is a very strong consumer demand for NFL Network. We appreciate CBS and NBC delivering the NFL Network telecast on Saturday night to the broad audience that deserves to see this potentially historic game. Our commitment to the NFL Network is stronger than ever."

I'm a lifelong Giants fan and worked as a waiter in LT's (Lawrence Taylor's) near Giants stadium my senior year of college in Rutherford, NJ, next to Giants stadium.

I'll never forget Superbowl 25, which I still think was one of the best Super Bowls of all time. Seeing Norwood miss the 40 yard filed goal as time ran out was a moment I will never forget. I was working in the restaurant and lost all composure for a few minutes.

I'm no fool though, and know the Giants can't stop the Pats from running the table and salute them for doing so.

Has NOTHING to do with this thread but RIP Derrick Thomas.........we miss you............................................... ............could have been the most dominant defensive player in history until he died in a wreck..........anyone remember him? I found out about his death in Computer science class at UA (alabama) and within a matter of minutes his footprints around Denny Chimes (all-americans at UA) was COVERED in Roses and Flowers. I stopped ad cried and prayed for his entrance into Heaven...................God is a Bama fan too.....................

I remember him very well. He was a great, great player and from all the things I have ever read or heard, he was an even better man.

He actually died a few weeks after the wreck. He was paralyzed from the chest down and died of a pulmonary embolism that developed in his paralyzed lower extremities and traveled through his venous system to his lungs.

While I am happy that the entire country will be able to see the greatness that is the Patriots, I am irritated at a couple of senators throwing their weight around to have this occur. If I went up to my neighbor and said to him do some desired action or I will shoot your dog, I would be prosecuted for extortion. Locally I am also sorry for the station that negotiated the local air rights to all of the games broadcast on cable. They are getting screwed on this game and will most likely have to refund some advertising fees. Rant over, enjoy the game.

There is no local black out? I would think the NFL could do that for those stations.

I think a lot of this is about trying to get the NFL Network on more cable systems. It is basically a big commercial. I am sure they will run a lot of promos for themselves in an attempt to try to get people to pressure their cable systems to put it on.

No local blackout, iit will be on 3 over the air channels in Boston, ABC, CBS, and NBC. WWOR in New York is in the same situation where they are getting screwed out of negotiated exclusive rights.
