3rd Grade Kickball Champs! Whats your sports highlight?

So I had a big lunch meeting and as is the norm in Mexico it took us a couple hours of non-business BS before we started the real business.

One of the guys we are trying to sell to was a member of the Argentinian National Team, and as most Argentianians are SO MODEST he was quite proud as he should be I guess.

Well it went around the table and as it got to me I had to think quick, I played footbal and baseball up to highschool and the intramural stuff in college but then it struck me...

I think the pinnacle of my sports career was when my third grade team beat the fifth graders in the Annual Kickball Classic! It was a tight match - I remember we got Cokes as a big celebration.

So thats mine - what is your sports highlight?

Competing in NCAA DIII Nationals in the 1650(mile) and placing 7th.

Easily the highlight of my swimming career

Last Men's League Hockey Championship in 2005.

Currently ranking 2nd in Alabama High School Athletic Association history for highest free throw percentage (minimum 75 attempts) in a single season at 89.7%!! A close second would be placing 7th in the state spelling bee when I was in 7th grade. haha And before you say it's not a sport, just think.....six more spots and I would have been on ESPN, baby!! There are several others, but this was the wrong kinda thread for me to see....I incessantly live in the past.

Well, it's a toss up between a pillow fight and almost taking out three guys throwing hammer at a college track meet (that should teach them to stand that close to the cage! the ball went straight through, the handle caught)

Rockford High School shot put record or dunking on the LA Clippers Chris Kaman when we were in college.

Either winning MOP on my Peewee hockey team back in 97 or wining our conference in Rugby my sophomore year in college (not that I had much to do with it, but I was on the team)

Never been much an "all-star", more of a utility player here, but my proudest sports moment was my second marathon, I finished my first but raced my second....

Best single achievement: Won a Junior Olympics Gold Medal when I was about ten in Judo up two weight classes because there was nobody my size to play. Won both matches using a hold called Yoko Shiho Gatame which is not usually recommended for a little guy to use on a big guy.

Highest level of performance: Played in the Mens Division one regional Rugby tournament 3rd place game (we got waxed) but I held my own and I was way out of my experience level. I was a second year college player at the time and my primary team had just played the big ten tournament at the same venue. The "teams" that finished 2 & 4 in the tournament were an A and a B side of the same club. I think the top two teams went to the National 16 team finals.

Best single moment/athletic buzz: I loved playing college rugby and I had some really good games. (If I do say so myself ) I think the best was we won a divison/rival match 20-17ish and I scored all of our points. I can at no level take credit for the victory but it felt pretty damn good. It helped that I usually made points kicking conversions and penalties but that game I had three tries as well as at least one penalty kick and a couple of conversions. The funny thing was it was not great athletic ability on my part just recognition of an error the other team kept making. I just kept cutting back into the same hole and if they would have adjusted we would have lost.

Now I'm out of shape and can't stay off the IR long enough to put it all together again. Getting old blows. Thanks for the chance to rest on my laurels again.
