Go VIKES!

Gotta say was a lose/lose win/win game for me depending on how you look at it. I was happy that it was a really good game. I enjoyed the big upset. The Giants played well and deserved the win. The historical implications were cool across the board. I'm disappointed for Junior Seau a pretty classy player who I liked from the San Diego days. I also am a fan of Maroney from his Gopher days and a I like Moss from his Vikings days. At least they both had TDs. The real coin flip was the 19-0 Patriots smug vs the 17-0 1972 Dolphins Shula/Morris smug. Can't stand those guys particularly Morris. Shula I have a lot of respect for but Morris yeesssh shut up already. I really can't wait for someone to go 19-0 and shut up the Dolphins but I didn't want it to be the Pats. Would love to see the Vikes of course or a team like the Bills who were >< this close so many times who don't have the perpetual SMUG like the Pats do now. Funny early in the "dynasty" the Pats were generally loved and respected and now they exude this sense of entitlement which is really unappealing. Maybe that is just the cost of success. All said and done I suspect the pundits will consider the Pats to be favorites to get back to the Super Bowl more so than the Giants. Sheessh now I'll shut up already.

Don't. Be surprsied to surprised to see this be the begining of the end for the Pats. They have several key players on offense who will be free agents (moss and stallworth to begin with) as well as Harrison, bruschi, seau and others on D. Age is also a factor, so I wouldn't go hand ing them anything yet

They still have a few years left in the window.

Age is a problem with the linebackers. You can make a good linebacker a lot better with good coaching. I think they can fill most of holes lost to retirement on defense through free agency. Samuels could be a big loss. It is harder to replace a CB.

And without Moss and Stallworth, are they any worse than they were last season? They won three superbowls with only possession type receivers. If they do not sign moss, maybe they look towards Ocho Sinco in a trade. If Moss' legal issues turn out to be nothing, then they will probably either offer him a a new contract or a franchise him.

They do need to improve the Offensive line though. Either through draft of free agents, they need to do something. The only games that gave them trouble were the ones where they were pressured.

I hate to agree (man that hurt) but I doubt Moss will go anywhere. And much to the dismay of the rest of the league, the Pats somehow manage to find a way to be competitive with whoever they put in a uniform.

One of the "old men" made a comment that when they suck, they're old, when they're good, they're "experienced".

Unfortunately, last night will stoke the fire for them to do it again next year. Billy B is just wired that way. Last year was the feel good Colts, this year it was "Black Billy" and his band of Outlaws.

My daughter asked me last night, "Daddy, why does everyone hate the Patriots?"

Just because, sweetie, just because...

Re: Congrats Giants

You couldn't sell this ending to a movie company... nobody would believe it! Nice job, Giants! And congratulations, also, to the Patriots for a truly exciting season.

Glad to see Eli getting some love...

I'm not handing anything to anybody, I was just saying after a week or too I believe the "experts" i.e. TV talking heads, are going to be projecting them back in the Superbowl. Myself, I would be surprised if they fell off the cliff ala the Raiders but they could. It could go either way as well and they could pull it together and go all the way also. I suspect they will drop off some in the regular season and be 14-2, 13-3 something like that and be a team no one wants to play in the playoffs. Whether they make any noise in the post season is beyond my weak predictive powers.

But anyway I didn't mean to threadjack, this thread was about Congratulating a very deserving Super Bowl Champion Giants Squad. The reason I even mentioned it in the thread was once the Cinderella aspect of the victory wears off I feel the media is still prone to under appreciating the Giants.

So Congratulations to the New York Football Giants and Giants fans.
