Shaq traded to Phoenix

I thought the Lakers got over on Memphis when they got Gasol but Shaq for Shawn Marion & Marcus Banks!!?? Shaq is injured half the time, his numbers are no where near where they used to be, and he's probably close to the end of his career.

Bad trade for Phoenix IMO.

Yep... I'm going on record that the Suns will not win the championship this year with Shaq-Fu... the Great Aristotle... The Diesel.

Re: Shaq traded to Phoenix

The basketball scene from "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" began playing in my head when I read the news.... Chief ambling to one end to punch the ball in, ambling to the other to block shots.

Gotta wonder what Steve Kerr is thinking.

Sounds like the Suns overreacted to those two Minnesota losses. Jefferson destroyed them down low and there was some panic.

I don't get it. This is not an upgrade.

Re: Shaq traded to Phoenix

This one's just left me scratching my head.. how do the Suns expect to revamp their offence to accommodate Shaq? I don't think he's ever run the floor well (the guy calls himself Diesel) and only works well in the half court offensive set up. The Suns have given up the guy who used to finish their fast breaks so unless they plan on doing that with Amare and leaving Shaq hanging under the defensive boards I just don't see why people are making such a big deal of this.

Re: Shaq traded to Phoenix

When did the Suns hire Isiah Thomas? Is Danny Ainge smoking crack?

This deal has me scratching my head. On top the whole Shaq doesn't fit into the Suns offense very well, he is INJURED. I don't get it. And to give up Shawn Marion, a top flight talent? Wow.

Steve Nash is great at making others great, but he'll have a hard time with Shaq. I never forgave him for leaving Orlando with nothing when he left.

First thing I thought when I saw this trade: Steve Kerr (not Danny Ainge, he's Boston's GM) is trying to become the White Isiah.

If anything, Shaq is great at proving people wrong....even if it is only for one season. GL to the Suns...I might actually have go to a game now...

Shawn Marion was apparently very clear to the Suns that he was going to opt out of his contract at the end of this year. Also, it has been said that Marion is a very bad teammate in the locker room, not getting along with other players. In all likelyhood, the Suns would have not retained him leaving him free to go somewhere else, with no compensation for Phoenix. Although I have to question the trade in general, I think Phoenix saw the writing on the wall. I also think that Shaq will be a more positive effect on the team than Marion apparently was, atleast off the court. You will also see Shaq very motivated to prove a lot of people wrong. It will be interesting, not saying it will pay dividends in the end for Phoenix, but it could.

Yep, exactly. Now looking at this trade on paper, it looks awful. But I have a feeling it's gonna turn out somewhat better than everyone is expecting it. Neither is the answer for the other team, but who knows what'll happen?
