US vs Mexico yesterday
Anyone watch the game yesterday? I know we have some futbol fans here so I'd figure I'd ask people's opinion of the game. Man, our defend is sketchy... esp. right and left back. I thought bradley did not have a very good game, nor did demsey (but better than bradley). I'm not a Donovan fan but I don't think it was his worst performance. Jozy, Oguchi, and Howard were playing well but I can't say much for the rest of the team.
Mexico dominated the middle and out ran our defence. Overall, a little disappointed in US's play. Without a playmaker the team seems lifeless and w/o real direction. There is still much work to do... we'll see how that goes last thing... Demsey's goal was good... no offsides... that ref was no good. ![]() |

Yeah, I agree the US needs some more work, but damn that game was exciting. It's been a while since a friendly match caught me as much as this one did. Too bad I missed the Portugal-Italy match earlier.

Re: US vs Mexico yesterday
I agree that some of our forwards seemed sluggish. Oneywu, however, was the standout. Running up and down the pitch and taking those long throw ins. His header was outstanding and the game was exciting. Overall, we could have been sharper.

Also Jozy's 3rd game and already a goal! Now we can to find a way to get the best out of Dempsey. I think putting Donovan on the right is the best we can expect |

Our defense sucked. There was no real possesion. It was like they were playing hot potatoe with the ball in the midfield. It drove me crazy. We need left and right backs that will mark a defender on set pieces. Moor got beat twice by the same guy. Can you tell I am still agitated by the game? |

Re: US vs Mexico yesterday
you really think donovan in the middle is a good move. I think donovan does much better when he's on the right... he can use his spread and cross. He's played in the middle and has proven unaffective. Keep him on the right a develop someone for the middle.
I do agree with you on Dempsey on the wing but franky we lack someone up front for now. As Jozy develops things might change but for now Dempsey upfront is all we have. |

Re: US vs Mexico yesterday
I've missed it daggumit. My dvr grabs from GOLtv and FSC, I forgot most of the US games are on ESPN. I'll settle for highlights, just glad we didn't loose on home soil, keep this century free from Mexican home defeats!
FWIW I think Fulham might stay up, Bullard and McBride are inspiration they haven't had, hope they go on a run the rest of the season. Let Reading go down in their place, they're on a downward spiral Fulham should have never let Chris Coleman go, he's a damn good coach and this joker that's in now is what the third since Coleman? Worst of the lot as well. What a ninny looking fella on the sideline.

plus I think his son is on the team and he seemed lost the entire game. I am also tired of all the petty pushing and shoving and then pretending. Every now and then you need to send a message and an occasional red card lets the other team know you dont mess with the USA except in the middle.tt ![]()

From what I see, he needs to be active in the offense. When he is on one side, our offense bogs down. The honest problem is we do rely on him too much. others need to step up. Donovan has had his best games in the middle as SS or AMF. Then with Dempsey and Beasly on the side. I know Beasly is hurt and Jozy is young, but this is the perfect time to let him develop. If we lack someone up front to go with Jozy, change the formation. This determination to stay in a 4-4-2 gets us killed because we don't have the players to fill it. I know people hate the 4-5-1, but it may be the best formation for us right now. |
