Re: UEFA Champions League Pool

hooboy, I'm not gonna watch any post-game, Wenger will be Wengin about that penalty without a doubt It was soft_as_hell but to be fair, live action I thought it was a dot shot without a doubt.

If I hear the term "special European nights" once more this year I'll snap but again I say hooboy! there is no crowd in Europe that can touch Anfield.

Torres' goal was magic, he never looked and it was inch perfect. He was the man at Atletico and I laugh louder with every goal at the scousers who swore up and down he'd never be able to come to terms with the physical English game The Kid is a monster.

Haven't bothered watching Chelsea, no stomache to see them advance. You can tell I've never gambled before with my pick there but I just can't bring myself to pick them.

I expect much the same tomorrow as far as my picks hitting, Shalke will Lose and Man U win. Tho the center of Man U's defense will be new, and scary, if Roma bring it like they have at their peak this season (which was not that long ago) we could be in for a shock. I'd hate to see Manchester United out at this stage but it would probably make for a better final in the end.

One thing's sure, I'd better bag up 5 soldiers tomorrow

Oh another sure thing, I'm happy as hell to have found some cigar loving footy fans!

Condolences Koolboieeeee. A question if you please, from a gooner's perspective, is Arsenal soft?

Re: UEFA Champions League Pool

I saw the entire match

first 25 odd minutes arsenal looked like they could win 3 or 4-0. great football, made liverpools defence look amateurish.

The penalty will be discussed alot i feel - due to it being so soft, and the fact arsenal wern't given one last match.

all in all i think arsenal deserved to win it, but the penalty changed it - but thats football.

There's no crying in football.

I have been a soccer referee for 12 years and admittedly a Liverpool fan.
I agree the penalty was "soft" and I've seen worse offenses ignored by referees. However, Babel beat two defenders into the box and had some space to run at goal. The foul, while not egregious, was from behind and negated a clear scoring opportunity. Gutsy (and correct) call by the official. And, honestly, I would see it the same way if the team roles were reversed. Just not as thrilled with the outcome.

I agree 100% that it was indeed a penalty. It was only soft because of tradition not law. It was not done on purpose, they just crossed paths, but Babel had the ball in his possession and the contact dispossessed him and but him on his butt.

I've seen Old Firm games, that is insane; but I've seen too much of it in the context of documentaries on sectarian violence. I try to erase that stuff from my mind. Celtic has great support, fair point.

Winner can smoke em blind and give a thumbs up or down? If that's no fun for you, you winner you, just ask me what they are and I'll be happy to say. They're all good in my book.

Re: UEFA Champions League Pool

The way I count 'em, I get four points total from the quarters--I figured the right clubs to go through, but I didn't nail any of the aggregate scores. Has anyone done better so far?

Jason - Unbanded?! You're a cruel man. It's tough to drool over 'em when we don't know what they are!

Re: UEFA Champions League Pool

alrighty lads, here's the points as of now, ( makes me kinda wish I'd added something along the lines of 2 points for 2nd round pick going through, 3 points for final winner, as to give everybody a chance after the first round... ) but just because of my confidence, and seeing as how EVERYONE has said that Liverpool won't cut in the final, except me. I'll go ahead and give you my mailing address. haven't you heard about not getting into a land war in Asia, what about never go in against a sicilian when death is on the line, only slightly less well known is "never bet against liverpool in Europe" ;-) good luck boys. Heres the points:

YAYSON: pulling in with 2 points
ARACOS: with 3 points
LORDOFWU: 3
ALDUKES:4
MYDan'lboonishself:4
COLDCUTS:4
MASTERSHOGUN:4
