The Royals are better than you think man, Meche pitched well on opening day, Bannister was lights out, and Greinke is riding a three hit shutout right now... We aren't doing this against a cupcake lineup either. The Tigers have one of the best, if not THE best lineups in the game. We have legit pitching man, aside from Meche's win-loss (he was dead LAST in run support in the AL last year), he was one of the best pitchers in the AL last year (was top 5 in most categories, K's, IP, BB's allowed, QS's), Bannister was third in ROY voting, and Greinke finished with a 3.69 ERA last year. Now that Gordon and Butler are hitting well, we have a decent lineup except for the 8,9 batters. Uh oh, Greinke is getting himself into trouble right now in the 5th, come on buddy! *edit- WOOO got out of it!
The royals are playing well, no doubt. That Bannister trade is gonna haunt los mets for a long time methinks.

You just wait Pete, the Yankees have Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy, along with Joba who could start. Stacked I say!

This is ugly for the Tigers. Almost giving up more runs and not getting any runs.

No, I agree! I'm just wondering why Mussina and Petitte aren't taking a little more heat! Yeah, who did we give up? Ambiorix Burgos I think? Is he even still on their roster? BTW, I have a soft spot in my heart for the Yankees. My Korean grandfather LOVES baseball (it's huge in Korea). What games do they televise there? Of course, the Yankees! So he's been a long time Yankees fan. He came to America to visit in the late 80's and we took him to see the Royals/Yankees games in KC. Watching my little 80 year old Korean grandfather (he's MAYBE 4'10), Yankees cap on head, nachos in hand, cheer on the Yankees in an American ballpark is something I'll never forget.

Damnit! Greinke just gave up a solo shot to Inge, back to a 3-run game...

I'll take Beckett and Dice-K.

Brandon Inge just smacked a HR. First run in 18 innings, let the flood gates open!!!

LOL, no, let's keep them shut, seriously! Nice way to bounce back though Zack, one earned run in 7 innings against the Tigers ain't half bad, I'll take it EVERY time!

*edit- Oh hell, who is this cat?? We just picked him up in a trade, DON'T BLOW IT DUDE! Damn, R Ramirez was a little wild, but he was popping the mitt with some heat, wow...

WOOHOOO the Royals sweep the Tigers!!!

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

I am going to say it is way to early in the season to see how pitching is going to stack up...Beckett is good...Dice-K is not bad...Mussina worries me. Wang, I love watching him pitch, he may not have the strike out count, but his pitches when hit rarely leave the infield...I can't wait to see what is going to become of Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, and Joba Chamberlain...

And WTF...do the Tigers not want top win...I knew the Royals were putting together a team, it just took the right time...which looks like now...

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I have a soft spot for the Yankees. Between my Grandfather, and going to games while I was in college in NY, I don't mind watching them win. It was pretty cool, they used to let us in for free with our military id's; the Yankees used to do a lot for us while I was at West Point. Obviously, I'm a diehard Royals fan, but if the Royals have to lose, the Yankees are my backup.

yeah, just checked the score and looks like they lost in the 10th. Looks like it was a good game.

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

My boys the Phils finally pulled one out today. Name another team that scores nine runs and loses, then holds a team to 1 run and loses, and their first win comes on a 10th inning bases loaded walk??! WTF Philly's sports are cursed I swear.

It does feel good, but let's not get too carried away! The back of our rotation is suspect at best, and Buck/Pena don't scare a slow-pitch beer league pitcher! Dayton Moore and Trey Hillman definitely have this ship going in the right direction though! Go Royals!
