Nice man! Sounds like a lot of fun! Tonight we begin to find out about the back of the Royals' rotation. I'm hopeful, but all bets are off! Go Royals (still the best record in baseball!)!

The Sox got croaked in the later innings. Would like to know where our offense went.

In all honesty, I'm grateful for the things he did on the field for the Giants. He may have been juicing but apparently almost every one else was. It's unfortunate that Magowan only cared about filing the seats for the last 2 seasons and now us Giants fans have to suffer for it with this crappy product on the field. Practically everything Barry Bonds related is no longer in AT&T Park. I agree that we have to move on to a new era but it's kind of a slap in the face that everything was removed. On the other hand, Barry could've asked for a pay cut those last 2 seasons so that the Giants can acquire better players but that would make him a nice guy I'm sure some AL team will pick him up midseason looking for some extra pop to put themselves into the playoffs (i guess this is the thing to do for old roiders cough rocket cough). I still think he's one of the greatest players to play the game but one of the biggest @$$holes off the field.

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

Hmmm ... the Cardinals are 2 games over .500. Yeah, I know it's early and all the "experts" have predicted disaster. But, hey, I've been a Cards fan for nearly 50 years. It's waaaay too early to throw in the towel because I am seeing some surprising and, yes, encouraging things.

The starting rotation has been MUCH better than expected but the bullpen is starting to scare me ... darn near gave away a 4 run lead to the Nats last night. Springer needs to get on track and show us he's the reliever he was in 2007.

All of the "kids" in the lineup is refreshing. Leadoff seems to be a question and the left and right field spots worry me some ... no one seems to be stepping up to claim them. But, Ankiel still looks like "The Natural" to me in center and at the plate.

On the infield, Albert seems to be as solid as ever if he can stay healthy. Glaus isn't yet playing up to expectations. Either Kennedy or Miles at second look like they will be just fine. The jury is still out for me on Izturis at short ... don't expect much at the plate but he's got a good arm if he can field the ball.

The real shiner for me in the infield is Molina ... he's a maestro at handling the pitchers and, with his cannon, base runners have good reason to stay at first base ... the best part is he's become a real threat when he's at bat ... Hall of Fame someday?

It's way too early to make any predictions. The Brewers look solid and the Cubs are schizophrenic ... as usual. We'll see if any of the Cards arms can come back from the disabled list and contribute in 2008. If they can and the starting lineup stays healthy, it ought to be an exciting season.

Well the Royals dropped one 4-3 to the Twins, but the good news is Bale pitched ok and the defense was there. We just ran into some tough hitters' luck and good Twins defense in the later innings. It's all good though, I still really like what I see from the boys in blue this year!

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

I have to agree with Butterbeezy. The games were much more exciting with Barry in them and the management is going to see a huge drop in attendance until they put a winning team on the field. Supposedly they are focusing on pitching, but something is wrong with their vision. I don't see any great results from last year's pitching and they have the basic same stuff this year.

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

Well the Royals have come back down to earth! Oh well, it's not easy starting the season with a 6 game roadtrip. I'll be really happy if we can pull out the last game against the Twins, and if not .500 ball isn't bad on the road.

Not watching, but listening to. Sheets has 8Ks and is pitching a shutout right now. But I think you knew that.

EDIT: Gabe Kapler goes deep...again!

EDIT EDIT: Reigning rookie of the year Ryan Braun goes deep...again!
