Cincy is looking decent this year. Not a world champion team by far, but maybe a good pennent race for the NL Central this year. Dusty Baker will get them further than the last couple of years. Anybody see Cueto's debut? Looking good! Go Reds!!!

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

The Red-Legs will have the opportunity to be good. Dusty Baker will definitely have them playing at a higher level. With the emergence of young starters they now have a very deep rotation instead of just Harrang and Arroyo, and still have Homer Bailey in Triple A. It is still yet to be seen if they can score a lot of runs or keep leads when they get into the late innings. Last years two biggest problems were middle relief and scoring runs, as of yet, this has yet to be tested.

A fore warning for all you Reds fans... prepare to have those young arms blown by Dusty.

Just watched the home opener ceremonies and the ring ceremony on tv that were taking place at Fenway Park. Wish that fans of every team could experience them soon, especially Cubs fans.

Well, the hated Yankees are in town for the home opener against the Royals! This should be a fun pitching matchup between two rising stars in Banny and Hughes!

I was actually saying that to a friend yesterday. I hope to god he learned his lesson. I want to see what these Reds can turn into over the next few years.

Pitcher 2: 199.1 IP, 104 K, 3.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP

Pretty close but Pitcher 1 has the edge especially with the Strikeouts.

Pitcher 1 is Matt Cain with a 7-16 losing record
Pitcher 2 is your beloved CM Wang with a 19-7 record.

IMO Wins is more of a team category and should have no guage on how good a pitcher is... I remember the year Bartolo Colon won the Cy Young because he had more Wins than Johan, when Johan had him clearly beat in all the other statistical categories. Now i'm not knockin your boy... but if you put him on my sorry @$$ team he might get 19 losses.

You forgot to mention that one pitches in the NL and the other AL. That 3.65 ERA in NL will look like 4 something in the AL.

The Reds have a lot of potential. Even though Dusty took my Giants to the WS, i just don't agree with alot of his decisions. I think taking out Russ in Game 6 was a horrible decision.

While that may be true (we'll never really know). It's just unfortunate that someone with those numbers can have an atrocious record. Sadly, it looks like it might happen again. My team can't score Runs for the life of them

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

All right, the Royals are up going into the 8th inning 5-2. We've struck out 9 batters up to this point; Royals' pitching looks very strong so far this year. Let's go boys!

*edit- All right, we are 5-2 on the year now, and still tied for first place in the AL Central! We struck out 11 today against the big Yankees' lineup. I tell you what man, the Royals can flat out pitch this year!

Re: Baseball Chat Thread

Red Sox home opener today! They had a great World Series ring ceremony and won the game (course it was only the Tigers ).

The Tigers will be scary though when they get their act together.

That game was painful. Hughes didn't pitch well at all, the offense was quiet, A-Rod needs glasses. Good game for you though Pete

Oh well, could be worse. Look at the Tigers

Yeah it was really windy out there yesterday, Banny was saying that both he and Hughes struggled out there because of it! Greinke takes the mound today, I hope he can keep it up, but something tells me that A-Rod probably won't go 0-4 again today!
