Re: this might seem callous to some but...
first off the said the game ended 4-2.. so all it took was 1 runner to go around to win the game, but it wouldn't have counted as a homer... but i digress. I completely disagree about the men have to much pride... some do I'm sure, but in HS soccer our RIVAL team, their BEST striker got cramps in both calves in the last 3 minutes of a very tense 1-0 game (us winning) I was playing keeper and he collapsed in the box after trying to run down a ball I collected... he was screaming it hurt so bad... I threw the ball out of bounds as is called for, and my sweeper and I, went over to help this dude stretch his cramps out... and I know for a fact I had CRUSHED him in the air earlier. Sportsmanship should ALWAYS carry over against it all another soccer example from the EPL
That year, Robbie Fowler(one of the greatest strikers to ever LIVE) also won a UEFA Fair Play award for admitting that he had not been fouled by David Seaman at Highbury after a penalty had been given.[penalties aren't handed out like candy] After unsuccessfully trying to convince the referee to change his decision about the penalty Fowler took it tamely and Seaman saved, the ball rebounded however and Jason McAteer scored. so even after he did the right thing, the scored... ha ha

Re: this might seem callous to some but...
Exactly. My post had zero to do with Jordan, Magic, or Bird. I was agreeing with taltos' hope "...that in a high school or college game, men or women, that sportsmanship would win out...."

Re: this might seem callous to some but...
It was a fine show of sportsmanship; the game was over.
Now, had this been during the game and the players decided to throw down their gloves and help instead of tagging her ass out, then they would have bench duty to tend to. |

Re: this might seem callous to some but...
what would of been funny, is if the oposing team offered to carry her around the bases and just before they got to home plate, one of them would show the ball hidden in her glove and tag her out laughing!!!!

Re: this might seem callous to some but...
I'm guessing the original post was not meant to be taken literally. I would think that given the same scenario, men would probably do a similar thing.
As others mentioned, the game was over. |
