Wanted: Quarterback for Defending National Champs

Perrilloux dismissed from LSU's football team
082 AM CDT on Friday, May 2, 2008
The Associated Press
BATON ROUGE -- LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who spent as much time in his coach's doghouse as calling signals for the BCS national champions, was kicked off the team Friday by head coach Les Miles.

In an early-morning statement issued by the university, Miles said Perrilloux "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete."

"Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team," Miles said.

The university said Miles would have no additional comment.

Perrilloux, a backup to Matt Flynn, had several brushes with the law and team discipline at LSU. He was on the fringe of a counterfeiting investigation and was caught trying to enter a Baton Rouge casino with a false identification. That got him suspended from the team last summer.

He also was involved in a fracas at a nightclub in November, but he was cleared of wrongdoing.

Miles suspended Perrilloux again in mid-February after he missed a team meeting, skipped some classes and was late for a handful of conditioning workouts. Perrilloux had to meet academic requirements and do extra conditioning work before he was reinstated April 6, in time to go with the national championship Tigers to meet President Bush at the White House.

Perrilloux was not allowed to play in LSU's spring game.

Before his last reinstatement, Miles said Perrilloux had been doing better with his classwork. During the spring, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch split time as the quarterback of the Tigers.

In 12 games last season, Perrilloux completed 51 of 75 passes for eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

How many times can LSU dismiss this guy? I will believe that he will not be there once the season starts!
As a Vol fan, I say he comes on down to Big Orange Country! We will give him a second chance, and a third, forth.....

This is the first dismissal. The other four times were suspensions.

When he becomes a convicted felon, I am sure the Cowboys will give him a shot at backing up Romo.

It's about freakin time. Now they can move on and develop the other guys. I wonder if he will transfer or just fade away.

Re: Wanted: Quarterback for Defending National Champs

As much as this next season may suck, I am glad they did this. He is too big of a distraction and he causes more harm to the team than good. He didn't represent LSU well at all. It's done, let's move on and put the tranfer from Harvard in.......

Speaking of model LSU Football players, Billy Cannon is going into the college football hall of fame. I read an article that he is the head dentist at Angola, the state prison. Wonder if he knows what side of the bars he is suppose to stay on.

ESPN is reporting that Perilloux was kicked off the team for failing a drug test.

I guess Atlanta is calling him in case Ryan can't get into trouble.

Its a sad but plausible comment. Being a Cowboy fan since the 60's. Sad commentary on the franchise. TO and now the Pac-man knucklehead. Thinking if Romo gets injured they're might be a trade in the works for Vick of the penal league.
