Ken Griffey Jr. Trade talks
ESPN Article
The Reds have always been my favorite team, and Jr. has always been my favorite player even when he was with the M's. It was like a match made in heaven when he signed with the Reds. I could actually tell you where I was when I found out he was coming to Cincy. I would be truly disappointed to see him leave. Ugh its hard to imagine the Reds w/o Griffey ![]() |

Re: Ken Griffey Jr. Trade talks
Mixed feelings on this one. I've been a Griffey fan since he back when he was good in Seattle. He has not been as much of an attribute to my Reds as I thought he would be. As much as I like Griffey, I think he is way past his prime and a little lazy the last two years. Not many diving catches in the outfield lately (a few, not many). I say let him get his 600th HR in Cincy and then talk trade. Maybe they will win w/o him and Dunn. They are not much of leaders for the Reds. The Reds need leadership right now, something they have not had since Larkin retired. Dusty's a good manager and Jocketty has a good track record. Maybe with a younger team (more of Phillips and Encarnacion) maybe they can be a contender next year. This year is lost completely. Not to be a pessimist, but I don't see them making the playoffs at all. The Tigers now have a better record than the Reds. There's always next year. I will miss Griffey though. Hope he does retire in Seattle, it's more fitting for him, that's where he had most of his good days.

While I totally understand how you would feel with him leaving, he just has to come back and finish his career in Seattle. He HAS to! One of the greatest athletes, if not The greatest to ever play in Seattle. |

Re: Ken Griffey Jr. Trade talks
Well, i doubt he's going anywhere until he hits number 600. And I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed either. it seems like, for the last 3-4 years all the scuttlebut coming from cinci is when are dunn and griffey going to be traded. And it just never happens.

Re: Ken Griffey Jr. Trade talks
get the 600 publicity w/ Cincy and then trade both of them the F out of there. Please. I love them both, but they are the ones keeping us from winning that championship or division. Let one of the young boys be the team leader. We need another Larkin, a take charge type of guy. Both Griffey and Dunn are too laid back and don't have the fire in them anymore.
