Sportscaster Jim McKay - Dead at 86
For many of us, we grew up with Jim McKay and the Wide World of Sports. He graced the Olympic coverage with professionalism and the heart of a storyteller. He will be missed. Rest in Peace, Jim McKay.

Re: Sportscaster Jim McKay - Dead at 86
That's a shame. He did a great job on Olympic events and the Wide World of Sports to say nothing of any number of special events through the years; these were staples of my childhood sports viewing. Between he and Harvey Korman, two more 1970s-1980s television personalities whose passing leaves a void which doesn't look to be able to be filled by folks in their respective businesses today.

Re: Sportscaster Jim McKay - Dead at 86
McKay was one of the all-time greats. He did a terrific job in 1972 covering the kidnapping of Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.
As trivial is it may seem, I will always hear his voice saying "...and the agony of defeat", as the skier goes off the side of the ski jump. |
