Re: Tiger done for the year

It's interesting to me that he's decided to take the time off... that type of person (ultra competitive) usually can't sit still for too long. But then again, he has a Gagillion bucks in the bank and a new baby at home. (is number two in the works now that he has all this free time?)

Re: Tiger done for the year

1 Tiger Woods 22,695 2 Phil Mickelson 15,940 3 Justin Leonard 11,902 4 Ryuji Imada 10,854 5 Geoff Ogilvy 10,660 6 Kenny Perry 10,623 7 Stewart Cink 10,539 8 Vijay Singh 9,309 9 Boo Weekley 9,280 10 Anthony Kim 9,080

My question is even though he is done for the year, will his points lead still be a factor or is he eliminated. With Phil's inconsistant play I would expect Justin to be the next major contender in the points standings. If this is the case do you guys think his 10k point lead will last long enough for him to win the Fed Ex points race?

Imagine if Woods was playing @ 100%....Sheesh...He would have crushed the competition.

To a quick recovery!

May the pool cleaner and house painter get to work!

Does it really matter if he stays in lead until the end of the season? They more or less reset the point totals before the FedEx Playoffs and if he dosen't play those, no way will he be able to win the cup. After the reset, the difference between #1 and #10 is only like 5,000 points and the winner of each playoff tournament gets about 10,000 points.

Re: Tiger done for the year

So the format is like the race for the chase in NASCAR. To me thats kind of stupid, why work hard all season to be #1 and have people who are in 2nd place and 4k points behind you to be even at the end of the season.

Re: Tiger done for the year

Yea, pretty much. Last year Tiger finished with about 30,000 points at the end of the regular season and Vijay finished second with about 20,000. For the playoffs, Tiger reset to 100,000 and Vijay reset to 99,000. This year they are making it even tighter.
