Herras, Landis, Hamilton, Beltran have all now been suspended. There is strong circumstantial evidence against Lance (Ties with Dr. Ferrari and Frankie Andreu's wife's testimony) involving doping.

It is a problem in all sports. Notice how Anika and Tiger both disappeared from the golf tours before the drug testing programs started? Cycling is made to look like the worst because they are the only one that actually has a testing program with teeth.
Are you saying the testing that Olympic competitors are subject to is toothless? I was under the impression that Tiger had a knee that shut him down, not the fear of drug testing. I am not paying that close of attention though. Did I miss something?

Great stage today.

Ricco climbs like Pantani but hopefully without the juice Marco used.

That is my point about American sports. They test, but when a superstar, i.e. Barry Bonds (allegedly) they just kind of dismiss the fact. I am starting to think that without doping in sports, sports would not be as interesting. I truly hate hearing myself say that, but i am also the guy that thinks that in order for an athlete to be making the kind of money they are, their should be the occasional tiger set loose on the field. Get rid of the horse collar rule and the roughing the passer and kicker. Lets see some real hits!
(this is meant as a rant and is semi-sarcastic)

Back to the TDF. Those guys can sure move up the hills! Very interesting to see some of the teams just hold back for tomorrow and not make any moves.

Sports would still be interesting. You would still have great games, great races, great players and great competition. Maybe you would have a few less dingers, or a slower times.

Great stage today. Tomorrow should be even better!!!

Today will certainly weed out the pretenders. It will be interesting to see who starts to move up the GC.

I am up, but I need to leave for work. Guess I will have to watch a replay.

Re: Tour de France

Valverde & Cunego lost the Tour de France today, Kirchen will probably lose the yellow jersey to Evans, Menchov seems to be his most important competitor.

Wow great photo...this kid can really ride..They were talking about how only two years ago this kid was ninety something in the overall GC and now with his performance in the hills so far he's making the Spanish crowd leap out of their seats! I wish I could watch more of it. Keep up this thread guys..I love the reading..

Ricco did not burn himself out yesterday. I thought he may have spent it, but I was wrong.

Re: Tour de France

Very interesting day today. Saunier Duval put in an amazing performance. Ricco got the white jersey. Cobo and Piepoli reminded me of Lance and Heras.
Evans was able to keep the pace of everyone important, but he didn't really look like he could muster up an attack. He only tried once.

Also, It was Bastille Day.

If Ricco wasn't in Evans group, he would've attacked!

Ricco is in the Poka dot Jersey if I remember correctly isn't he. Also the white probably too, but on the jersey hierarchy the mountains jersey is above the young rider jersey so he should be wearing it. The kid does look good. Rest day tomorrow so not much going on. Wednesday isn't a huge mountain day like today was though it still has a cat 1, and it is always interest to see how everyone can do after having a day off.
