Angry Standing at a Chiefs NFL game is now a no-no (wtf)

Is it April Fools Day again already ?????

Abbreviated article below
-------------------------------------------
Fans are asked to treat Chiefs games like bowling matches

The Kansas City Chiefs have a "Fan Code of Conduct," which is essentially a list of rules that fans have to follow when they're attending a game at Arrowhead. In theory, it's not a bad idea, as you'd like your stadium to provide a friendly atmosphere for families and people who aren't drunken hooligans.

In practice, though, it might not be such a great idea, especially if the person responsible for coming up with the rules is an 85-year-old woman who teaches the 2nd grade and regards standing up as one of the evil things that young whippersnappers often do. Seriously, standing erect is the No. 2 item on the list of things that are prohibited:

The Chiefs also have set up a text-messaging system that allows fans who might be offended by behaviors like standing to report the situation to the powers-that-be
-------------------------------------------

You have got to be sh*tting me.

I do like this line in the article .. "Maybe they'll lift the ban when the Chiefs can field an offense that might actually score a touchdown every now and then and might give fans a reason to stand. Maybe this is only the policy until Brodie Croyle improved or is replaced."

When is the last time that the Chiefs did anything to cause their fans to stand?

This isn't entirely true, they changed the wording to "continuously standing." I guess that's fine, I hate it when some guy stands the ENTIRE game right in front of me! Standing is still encouraged for big plays, touchdowns, etc.

That's nothing. People have been called down for being too loud at Carolina Panther games.

How lame. If you pay the ticket price, you should be able to do what you want as long as you are not beating on someone else. Pussies can stay home and watch the game on TV.

I wish people would stand more... it pisses me off when some lazy drunk bastards drone on "down in front". Stay home and sit on the couch.

Huh? How about if you pay the ticket price (I was a Chief's season ticket holder for 6 years), you ought to be able to see the game from your seats? You don't have to be standing the entire game to support the team. I'm all for standing during big plays, but there's no reason why someone needs to be standing the entire game. It really pisses me off when the person standing in front of or behind me is hammered and is throwing beer all over the place.

Re: Standing at a Chiefs NFL game is now a no-no (wtf)

Problem is most crowds in America are krappy crowds who no more know how to support or "root" for the home team. Home field advantage is created by EVERYONE in the crowd being on the same page and screaming together. It sure isn't the crowd who does the best "wave". People starting that should be escorted out!!!

Win as a team, lose as a team. Get up and support your team.

Excuse me as I go back to the couch and get ready for training camp!!!!

If only they could come up with a rule revoking all talking/ standing/drinking rights from Broncos and Raiders fans, I'd attend more games... and hell, I'm not even a Chiefs fan!

I've never been to a Pro Football game, but I don't think I've ever SAT at an Auburn game... except at halftime... but god forbid that rule ever get passed.

College was different. The Corps of Cadets (West Point- the REAL Corps, none of that A&M, VMI, or Citadel crap!) isn't allowed to sit down while the team is on the field. However, attendance to home games is also mandatory and free! Noone that payed for their tickets is in the student section, so it's fine and dandy! As ttours mentioned, home field advantage is all about crowd noise at the right time, not about standing or doing the wave. When I'm paying $70 per ticket to see the Chiefs, I want to be able to sit down and enjoy myself between plays. I don't want to have to stand continuously just so that I can catch the action. Don't get me wrong, when the defense is on the field, it's a non-stop holler, and I'm probably standing and beating on chairs during 3rd or 4th down stands. When the offense is on the field, I'm enjoying the game from my seats and saving my voice for the defense or a deafening yell when we score or make a 1st down. In short, it's a common courtesy to those around me to sit my ass down so that others can see (unless it's a big moment in the game or something great happens)!

How about a compromise? Just like there are non-alcoholic sections, have areas where you are expected to stand (and have a seat for halftime) and others where you sit. This way, nobody gets pissed off.

I'm in the Patriots end zone and the electricity in the air is something intense when everyone is on their feet. Unfortunatly, there is too much sitting.
