Re: Football Chat Thread

Belicheck showed once again that he is the best coach in the NFL as my beloved Pats beat the Miami Phish by trotting out a no huddle-throw it down the field offense when Miami (and most others I imagine) expected a sedate, ball control running attack. Kudos to Matt Cassell who grows by leaps and bounds every week. Two consecutive 400 + yard passing games. Wow, will he have a big payday at the end of this year!

Bring on the Steelers!

Well, it sure is not last year as far as my Pats go. Congrats to the Steelers, they whipped us good.

On to Seattle. Has Holmgrem retired yet?

Can it be? Could it happen? All signs are pointing to yes!

Three way tie in the AFC East. Now this will be interesting.

Did anyone see the catch of the year by the TB WR last night? What a catch!

Re: Football Chat Thread

My Pats are still in it. Had a nice practice session yesterday against the west coast JV team known as the Raiders. Buffalo threw the Jets a life line and there is still a three way tie atop the AFC East. We're gonna need a little help, but I'm still confident the Pats can make the playoffs.

By the way, if they do, wouldn't that make Belicheck coach of the year?

Re: Football Chat Thread

Maybe, although don't you have to consider Mike Smith out of Atlanta? That team had 4 wins written all over it at the beginning of the year.

The defense adding Jared Allen next to the Williams boys could be the best D-Line in the league (if they play up to expectations).

The schedule is a complete bitch though and I have no delusions of grandeur so I would be absolutely thrilled with 10-6.

GO VIKES!!!
Who knew you would be so prescient. Vikings are sitting at 9-5 with two to go. We are all hoping for 11-5 and the #2 seed with the bye and home field advantage. I would still be thrilled with 10-6 and a home playoff game. Now lets just hope the new T-Jack (TJ2) keeps playing the way he is and the other teams don't figure him out until next season. Skol Vikes!!

History being made...man, I hate to see it happen. So armchair quarterbacks, who do you draft if you are the Lions? QB? A lineman? Bribe an owner to borrow their team? Where do the Lions go from here?

Best they could do would be to hire Scott Pioli as GM, Josh McDaniels as the coach and Matt Cassell as the QB. Though I would hate to see it, all three are deserving of a step up. (hmmm ... is ANY position in Detroit a step up?)

Re: Football Chat Thread

Down to the last week of the regular season and the last gasp for my Patriots. We Pats fans find ourselves in the awkward position of having to root for the hated NY Jets this weekend vs Miami. If the Jets win and we beat Buffalo the Pats are AFC East Champs. The only way we make the playoffs if the Jets lose to Miami is if Baltimore losses to Jacksonville.

So ..... for the first time ever Go Jets !

Re: Football Chat Thread

It's been a rough season for me as well. Being a KC Chiefs fan hasn't exactly been fun this year. Tyler Thigpen has shown some promise but I'm still not sold that he is what we need in KC. Carl Peterson is out as GM so hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Lord knows what's going to happen to good ole Herm. I'm gonna go ahead and say the record for next year will be 15-1... I know, I'm being modest.

Re: Football Chat Thread

Congrats to Miami for one of the greatest single season turnarounds in NFL history. Parcells understands what it takes to win football games.

Much as I wanted the Jets to win so my Pats could get in the playoffs, I couldn't help but be pleased for Chad Pennington. He deserves some consideration for NFL MVP.

As for my Patriots, I'm proud of the season they put in considering all the injuries they had. Now next year when we're healthy again....
