The very first game for the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center in 2000. Tied the Flyers 3-3.

The Semi-final game of the 2002 NCAA Frozen Four at the Xcel when the Gophers beat Michigan 3-2 to advance to the Finals where they beat Maine 4-3 in ot!!!

Game 7 of the 1987 World Series where the Twins beat the Cardinals for the title!

Watching my kid win a state championship with his Squirt A team in 2006!

And any hockey game at the Xcel or at Mariucci

I'd have to say the 1996 USC vs. UCLA game at the Rose Bowl. UCLA came back from a 17 point deficit in the 4th quarter to win in overtime.

You would bring this game up... I believe we lead by 17 with less than 7 minutes. What a colossal meltdown on our part. That would have been a good game to be at if you were a Bruin.

How have you been ucla695? Looking forward to seeing what coach Neuheisel & Chow have in store for the PAC10 this year.

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Saw the greatest driver ever, Ayrton Senna, win the 1988 Canadian Grand Prix

Game 1 of 1981 NBA Finals, Celtics vs. Rockets. Bird made a play in that game where he got his own rebound on an outside shot and laid it in. It is a play that is on any Larry Bird highlight reel.

Carl Yastrzemski's last game in 1983. Yaz was so great, not only did he have his own brand of Kielbasa, but they also named a birth control pill after him.

And for participation, in High School I tackled a running back in the end zone in the 4th quarter of a scoreless football game. We won 2-0. It is the lowest possible winning score in a football game. So that is some sort of record.

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Awesome question. I've been very fortunate to be at some significant events.

2005 NFC Championship Eagles 27 / Falcons 10
2004 ALCS Game 6... the "Bloody Sock" game. Only time I've ever been to Yankee Stadium.
1993 NLCS Game 6 Phillies clinch to go to WS
1997 NHL Quarterfinals Game 5 Flyers clinch over the Penguins... at the time Lemieux's last game. Standing ovation in Philly.
2004 NHL Quarterfinals Game 5 Flyers clinch over the Devils...the loudest sporting event I've ever been to (the 2nd goal at 14:37 literally hurt my ears)

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Mine is a bit more minor league.

I had season tickets to the Oklahoma Storm, a USBL basketball franchise.

We had Kareem Abdul Jabbar as the head coach and we won the post season championship that year!

R.I.P USBL
Yeah I know it is minor league but still it was a very good game for a small town.

My dad and I went to the Sharpie 500 in '05 at Bristole. Love the atmosphere, the sounds, everything. Even got to see a guy hit in the nose with some binoculars. Dale Jr lead a lot near the end, but pitted and unfortunately, give Kurt Busch his first win.

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Semi-final soccer game for my 10 year old in a tournament last week end. It was held during an Italian festival. Great food and drinks. Game went into overtime. Some of us parents started doing some soccer chants. Kids loved it, parents loved it.

My wife thanked my son for a great week end due to the games.

BTW-Made it to the finals. Lost 3-1.

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Excluding any games my kids have participated in, I'd have to say the most memorable goes back to college. I was first year at UVA, and was lucky enough to win a lottery ticket to the home UNC basketball game that winter.

I remember watching this scrawny little kid on the Carolina team run up and down the court, almost at will, tongue poking out, and was simply amazed. I remember pointing out to my college roommate--"Watch that guy, he's the most graceful basketball player I've ever seen. He's going to be something." We talked about it for hours afterward.

And when Michael Jordan scored the game winning shot in the NCAA championship a few months later, we just looked at each other and nodded.

If only we had been agents at the time....

It felt odd rooting for a player on another team all through college, but it's rare to actually watch a true talent and gifted athlete like that in development.

Hey Geneva, things are going well. Business as usual and counting the days until football is back. I hope everything cool in your neck of the woods.

Yeah, it was a sweet game. One of the few gems that UCLA has had in the recent past. Hopefully Neuheisel and Chow can start to turn things around and make it respectable against your Trojans cuz I expect to be caught in the middle of the PAC.

Re: What was the greatest sporting event you ever attended?

Super Bowl XXXVIII
Reliant Stadium, Feb 1, 2004
Panthers 29 Patriots 32
Amazing game that started out as a defensive stalemate in the 1st and 3rd, offensive lightning in the 2nd and 4th. What an amazing back & forth battle this game was! I was burnt out by the end of this one!

Honorable Mention
RCA Dome, November 30, 2003
Colts 34 Patriots 38
The Patriots were owning the Colts, when Peyton Manning took over and launched the Colts right back in the game. The Colts were down by 4... but had the ball 1st and goal at the Pat's 2 with one minute left. I was in the endzone about 6 rows from the field where the insane goal line stand took place. Since the Colts were on offense, you could hear a pin drop in the dome... you could hear every offensive and defensive audible and I felt like I was right in the densive backfield.

1) I was at the game when Steve Yzerman scored his 600 career goal.
2) UofM vs Notre Dame 2007: 110 Thousand ppl at the big house was unreal and being on tv doesnt hurt either.
