Yea, we know. There is a whole thread on baseball just a threads below. I posted the news right after it was announced. Not really that much of an impressive move, Jr is way over the hill, can't play center anymore, and is only hitting in the .240s.

Good riddance Junior!

I am so glad to see him go. The whole time he was here, he was very unfriendly. He can't even play right field anymore. Our commentator Jeff Brantley said that that is the worst play he has ever seen by Junior. Well, Griffey heard of the comment, and after he hit a HR, he made a throat slash gesture at Brantley right in front of the crowd. Then, he went over to the top of the dugout and yelled "F--k you Brantley" right in front of a bunch of kids.

Oh please. Brantley is a dick, Ken Griffey has a sterling record and is one of the classiest players in the game. And one of the few players who is clean in the steroid era. And he never yelled f*ck you over some kids, watch the video. Calling him a punk is less than fair. Over the hill future hall of famer sure, but punk? Come on

No, Brantley calls it like it is. I can't stand it when people defend Junior. Sure, he had a great career.... but there is no reason to do what he did. I can't stand when people want to stick up for him just because of his career. Look at how he is playing now. That is just as bad as Dusty F'in Baker batting Griffey in the 3rd spot b/c he has "earned it". He should have really been batting 6th.

For the record, I hope the White Sox win the WS so that Jr. can get a championship.

Ok. Whatever, because he is a baseball player, he isn't allowed to get angry. And even though this is the first time in his career he has ever done anything like this, he's a punk. Brantley is full of hot air, if you like the bs he swills, so be it. But when you start making up things like "Griffey yelled f u to kids" your vilifying one of the greatest players of our generation over a very stupid issue (especially since he didn't do it lol). I mean it's not like he flipped the crowd off. Is his play the same caliber as it was 5 or 6 years ago? No, he's been hurt and he is getting old, what did you expect?

Oh, and Jeff Brantley, the 80s called. They want their mullet back.

Mixed feelings on this. I've loved Griffey since his early days in Seattle. Couldn't wait for him to come to Cincy. But he has not contributed like he was supposed to. I'm sad to see him go, yet glad for the Reds. Get rid of Arroyo, Patterson, Bailey, EE, and Dunn and we might have a good team. Now Phillips might stand up and show some leadership.

If you got rid of all those guys, you still wouldn't have a good team. In fact, things would probably be worse off than they are now. The Reds are years away from having any sort of team that can compete in their division.

Oh, and i'd take Dunn in a second. That guy has sick power. Pair him up with a better hitting coach and I bet his average might go up as well.

I was so pissed when they signed Corey Patterson. But, you know, Patterson is one of Dusty's boys so he got signed. Did I mention how much I think Baker is a terrible manager?

True, but trade them away for some more younger and aggressive players, and maybe we'll do something. This team has no morale. EE might be of some use down the road. He has potential, yet seems to F*ck up too much. Bailey is shyte, Patterson is shyte, Arroyo seems to suffer a fate similar to that of Griffey: good until he came to Cincy, then becomes a so-so decent, but not very valuable pitcher.


As far as Dunn goes, I like him personaly, but he's either hit or miss. No consistency in him. He gets hot for a couple of weeks, helps win some games, then back to SO King. W/ a good hitting coach maybe, but do you think anyone in Cincy will hire a good hitting coach?

I'd like to see Junior get a ring.
He's a good dude. He's good to people and he's good to kids.
I'd like to see him continue working in baseball once he's done, something with kids like "Junior's Baseball World" where kids can go to "camp" and learn how to play ball.
Unfortunately Junior's body has never held up. Had he been healthy his entire career I can't even imagine the kind of numbers he'd have put up.
