I guess they picked it up off the "Shack Herf IV - Cornhole Tournament Director" wire -- you know those guys will cover anything sports related..

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?
I look at this way...this is not just Favre's fault. Plain and simple the Packers have made it abundantly clear that they DO NOT want him which makes me think that they believe he is done and Rodgers would outplay him...which is about as retarded as it sounds. Now if you actually believe this then why the hell not just flat out release him. The Packers don't want him but are scared sh@tless that he will come back with another team (the Vikes) and kick their ass.
As a long time Vikings fan I don't believe I am actually defending Favre but I have to admit he has always been a stand up guy. He always did anything asked of him....including restructuring his contract on numerous occasions...to try and make the team better. I think the final straw was they were actually trying to pay him 25 mill to just go away. For a guy that has given that much to the organization that was just a slap in the face. That also shows this is certainly not about the money...another stand up move. ![]() |

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?
I liken this to the end of the Bart Starr coaching regime. He did a lot for the Packers as a player and was revered, but run out of town on a rail when his coaching skills didn't match his playing skills. A lot of bad press for a while, but the man is still revered this many years later for the good that he did while in Green Bay.
I believe the Favre thing will play out the same way. You say you're sick of hearing about this media coverage for the last month. Us Packer fans have been going through this on an annual basis for the last 4 years. Enough is enough. No one party holds all the blame in this. There's plenty of blame for both sides to take their share. Still, while we are sickened by how this has transpired and just want for it to be over, remember Favre down the road from now and he will still be the iconic football player and Mr. Packer for all time. Forget the business of football. Remember how the game was played. With that said, a trade to TB or NYJ is about the only plausible solution at this time.

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?
After watching his interviews a few weeks back on why he retired when he did, and hearing about how the Packers have treated him in the many different news reports since that time, I have no bad feelings toward Brett Favre in this at all. He wants to play again, if they don't want him, then either trade him or cut him, it's that simple.
He retired when he did because at that time he didn't feel like playing again and the Packers were hounding him for answers. How is that his fault? If he said he was going to stay, and then come training camp his hearts not in it, all of Packer nation would be royally pissed off for leaving the team hangin in the wind. The Packers Org has some serious issues and nobody is dogging on them? Why are they getting the free pass here? |

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?
I really don't understand the big fuss.
He wants to come back and play. The Packers own his rights. OK, they can either let him compete for their QB job, release him or trade him if there is an available suitor. It seems to me that any sensible team would let him compete for the job and if it appears he is not one of the players they want to keep at that position, trade him for something of value. If no trades are available, then release him. That is exactly what every team in the league is doing with virtually every player on their roster right now. It is one of the reasons pre-season games exist, to evaluate the available talent. As has been proven many times over the years, older players reach a point of diminishing returns. No one will know if Farve has reached that point until they see him play some. Let him compete.
