If you retire, you shouldn't be allowed back.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I think he is one of the greatest to ever play the game but after all the media coverage, drama, tears, and speculation for the future of the team, he's done.
So what happens now? He comes back plays a game, 2, a season and then we have to suffer thru all that again?.
He should be professional about it. He made a difficult decision. He should stand by his decision.

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?

I think their are a couple of options:
1) trade favre for a 1st + conditional pick
2) keep favre and trade brohm or rodgers (i think they should trade brohm and resign rodgers so that he feels committed)
3) keep them all because you cant have enough qbs.

I dont think that they can roll with any of these options. If favre stays in gb he should start.

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?

The Packers have to move on. It has happened to some of the greatest, Montana, Namath, Unitas. They have Aaron Rodgers in waiting, and Matt Flynn. At some point you need to move on and worry about the future. The Packers could trade him and get picks and continue building. I think the Packers are the youngest NFL team, and if done correctly could become a dominating team for years to come. Just please, dont trade him to the Skins, we dont need him, we have Colt

So if someone retires from any job they should never be allowed to return back to work?

Re: What Should Happen With Brett Favre?

I say trade him to the Vikes and for no other real reason than one. Can you possibly imagine the amount of media coverage on Sept 8th when the Vikes go to Lambaeu field on Monday Night Football on the night they were supposed to retire his jersey....

First, this is not "any job". Second, it was not an impulsive decision. But to draw an analogy to the common workplace, if your company and professionals industry-wide went to great lengths to honor you, provide extensive media coverage and attention, bestow retirement gifts upon you, then I would say it was pretty tacky and self-centered to accept all of that and then go back. You know it will happen all over again when he re-retires. Let him work at a new career/job.

At the very least, he should not return to the Packers.
