This is a discussion on Somebody please explain this to me within the Sports Forum forums, part of the Everything But Cigars category; How in the hell does Notre Dame get 5 votes in the poll......they shouldn't even be sniffing the top 25....

I agree but any poll at this point is, well, pointless. Nobody knows how anybody's team will play or how good they will or won't be. I hate pre-season polls. I think they are done on slow news days. Polls should only come out after several games, imo. After you actually see them play.

The same way Ohio State gets 14 first place votes after getting waxed two straight years in the BCS National Championship.
The same way North Carolina gets 3 votes, I think maybe Roy Williams got a vote for that one.  Look at it this way, they got the same number of votes Kentucky and Texas Christian and neither of those will likely be sniffing the Top 25 either  Every week each head coach in the NCAA Division I-A's gets to fill out his own Top 25 and obviously atleast 5 coaches thought Notre Dame should be atleast 25th in their poll. Not saying I agree with it, but thats the way it must have been.
