I saw that yesterday on PTI, and they were laughing at him saying that he is the only person who believes he isnt retired. I cant stand the guy and would hate for him to come to my team.

Re: Barry Bonds returning to Baseball

Dusty Baker is the Reds manager; w/ all the time Dusty and Barry spend together, I wouldn't put it past Cincinnati to give him a uniform. They just got rid of Griffey and Dunn, freeing up 25 million dollars. I hope Jocketty isn't dumb enough to bring him in.

Although I like Barry, I don't want to see him as a Red.

Re: Barry Bonds returning to Baseball

I'm not a Rays fan, but I certainly want them to finish ahead of the evil duo that is the red sox and yanks. With Longoria and Crawford on the dl they should really consider signing BB. He is one of the best of all time (steroids be damned, I never have and never will care about them) and he still has enough left in the tank to help a team like TB. If he is a locker room cancer, that's another thing, but I have also heard many say he is a good teammate. Either way, if I was a Rays fan I would want my team to sign him, at a bargain rate of course.

Seriously, my take on BB is that he is the scapegoat. Once again the media has to villify someone. They've never liked Barry, even back when he was in Pittsburgh. Barry is the only person in the MLB to take steroids. He never hit a HR off of a pitcher who took steroids. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE has ever taken steroids in baseball except for Barry Bonds, at least that's how the media slants it. If someone was always hounding me (the media), I'd be an @$$hole to them too!

I'm not saying what Barry did wasn't wrong. It most certainly was wrong, but he's the one taking all the heat for it.

No, but he is the only one that broke one of the highest regarded records. And why didn't anybody like him? He's a grade A ass.

That's why I like Griffey. 600+ HRs w/ no additives.

Not meaning to threadjack but this goes along the same vein:

What difference is there between what Bonds did and what alot of pitchers use to do using hair gel, vaseline, tacks, sand paper, etc to alter the surface of the ball to gain an advantage vs the hitters?

Again, Im not standing up for BB but I am interested in perspective.
