Good, VT sucks, always has and always will. Bama will see them in ATL next year and show them like they're showing Clemson tonight they don't belong on the field with the big boys!!!

Roll Tide!!

Still gigglin a bit about this one.

Now for my team, the Virginia Cavaliers, a 52-7 thrashing at the hands of USC. Before that ass whoopin they mentioned UVA is in a rebuilding season. Thats pretty much every year.

The ACC is weak just like last year.

Now if only the Dukes would have done it when I was there, but either way as an alum from a school that isn't Tech, awesome work ECU!

Re: ECU Beat VA-Tech!

VT made a scheduling mistake by playing ECU.

The University they THOUGHT they had scheduled was Sister Mary Margaret's Eastern Carolina School for Blind Girls.

We won't make THAT mistake again.

Re: ECU Beat VA-Tech!

You know, ECU is one of those teams that comes to play. They have a knack for pulling off the upset on occasion and with parity the way it is across the NCAA you just can't take anyone for granted anymore.

And what is going on with the ACC? Jeebus they look bad.

Thay have looked bad, nationaly, for many years now. Nothing new. This conference is and always will be, primarily, a bball conference. No matter how hard folks want to think otherwise.

How long can ECU keep Holtz? That is the question.

VT isn't done for. Beamer is a good coach - he will have them playing in a bowl by the end of the season. I may not like VT, but they certainly have built a good program.

No offense but they have no offense. Never had. Their D coordinator, Bud Foster, is one of the best in the country and is responsible for their 10 win seasons (playing ultra soft schedules, truth be told).

I like this from Wikipedia (prob get changed soon so I post below):

Bryan Stinespring (born October 12, 1963 in Clifton Forge, Virginia) was the offensive coordinator (2002-200 and tight ends coach (1993-1997, 2006-200 for the Virginia Tech Hokies football team in Blacksburg, Virginia. Stinespring was a full-time member of head coach Frank Beamer's staff since 1993. Throughout his tenure, Stinespring has held a number of other positions including offensive line coach (1993-2005), recruiting coordinator (1994-2001), and even assistant head coach (2001). He was immediately fired after the Hokies lost to East Carolina on August 30, 2008 before the team made it back to Blacksburg, and was left along I-77 at a rest stop near the Virginia / North Carolina border, with good buddy Sean Glennon. They were last seen hitchiking along I-77 near exit 12 in Virginia in an effort to get back to Blackburg, but so far no Hokies have stopped to pick them up.

hehe ...

Full disclosure ... I am an Iowa State Cyclone (fan), I only work at VT <Please insert ISU joke here>

God I hope so.

1) I'm a VT fan through and through. Say what you will, I think a lot of us saw this coming. We knew what to expect with Glennon (turnovers), we knew the most experienced receiver on the team was a former QB with only 3 career catches, we knew the RBs are inexperienced, and we knew Stinespring likes to give the ball over on downs rather than take a field goal inside the red zone (twice).

2) To many people fixate on preseason rankings. I told several people before this game that VT didn't deserve #17, probably didn't deserve any ranking. We'll have a fairly successful season, but that's only because the rest of the ACC is miserable lately.

3) Which brings me to my next point. Parity in college football is more than a buzzword these last few years. It's happening everywhere though. Navy beat Notre Dame, Michigan lost to Appalachian State, crazy shit has been happening lately.

4) But I wouldn't say ACC has always been weak. In the last 15 yrs all conferences have produced comparable number of National Champs, with the exception of the SEC. I won't argue they've got a tough conference, but again the parity is going to be a downfall. They're likely to play themselves out of contention each year.

5) To be honest, I don't care if we lose every game this season. I've already written it off as a true growth year (not like UVA ). The O-line is finally starting to take shape, the D is spectacular as usual, the receivers show promise, and the QB (Taylor) shows a lot of potential. And most importantly, the team should largely be intact next year, and maybe the year after.

National Champs in '10. You heard it here first.

PS - Any weekend that UVA gets a 52-7 ass whoopin' isn't all bad
