As much as I can't stand the Pats, it's always hard to see someone get hurt that way. The upside, if there is one, is that it happened early in the season and he has plenty of time to rehab it before next season.

While I feel terrible for Brady, I'm happy to see a little more competitiveness in the AFC. Now I guess the Jets may win the AFC East, though I think they aren't as great as the Dolphins made them look.

Don't rule the Pats out yet. Remember what happened when Bledsoe went down in 2001.

Other teams have won Superbowls with back ups. Not saying the Pats will, but I think they will still be competitive. I would not count them out of the AFC East yet.

Cassel was still 13 for 18 for 153 yards. He is unproven and has barely played. But the Pats have good receivers and a good running game that could become a strong one with more emphasis on it.

It is a team sport. Brady may be a stud but he has excellent talent surrounding him, a killer O-line, Moss, Welker, Gaffeny (and Watson will be back soon), two good backs.

I think whoever is behind center will have a good chance for success be it Cassell or Simms.
