Re: NHL '08-'09 Thread

I know this is the NHL thread but you guys are hockey fans so you will understand. Just one last post from a proud dad about one of his hockey sons.

I got the call from Jr. tonight after the last night of tryouts.

Here's the call:

Jr.: Hey!
Me: Hey!
Jr.: Whats up?
Me: Nothin, whats up with you? (keep in mind I have been holding my breath for this call for days!)
Jr.: Nothin, walking back to my room.
Me: OK asshat what's the word!?
Jr.: You are talking to a fully rostered Penn State Hockey Player.
Me: Huge lump in throat and the only thing I say is, I'm so proud of you.

Since we first put skates on him at four years old we have been through a lot together. Hell, he used to sit and watch the Red Wings games (I would tape them as he had to get to bed) and eat his breakfast instead of cartoons!
To slide that sweater over his head has been something he has dreamed of his entire life. Due to his hard work and personal sacrifice he has done it, and no one will ever take that away from him.

Proud dad rant off.

Thank you, each of you, for all your kind words and thoughts.

Yes he is, and I don't want to see him traded as we have already lost too much scoring from last year. I really hated to see Rolston go. He has an incredible slapper.
I think the Wild have taken some great strides the last couple of years and with Lemaire behind the bench you know we will get better this year too!

PS ahc4353 Congratulations on your son making the PSU squad!

Re: NHL '08-'09 Thread

Well I'll put the brown bag on my head and check in as a Kings fan. Don't have much to root for this year except for maybe some rookies stepping it up. All I gotta say is if they are going to suck, please suck bad enough to be able to draft Tavares. If they go on a winning streak at the end of the season and pull OUT of last place on the last game AGAIN, I will leave them forever.

You can't leave them. What kind of fan is that? Look at me, I'm a Ranger fan and I have stuck by them my whole life and taken tons of because of it!
