I've been PM'ing back and forth with ky toker about some upcoming MMA events and there seems to be some interest from lots of people in the Hughes vs. Gracie thread, so I think its a good idea to start a thread dedicated to MMA.

Glad you put the thread up. The UFC 57 card has some good fights on it. I'm actually looking forward to the Diaz Riggs fight. Don't care for either guy, but this should be an interesting fight. If I have to pick I think I'll take Diaz in this one.

Of course I'll take Mir in his fight, I'd like to him and Arlozski toe to toe.

I wanna see this guy in UFC. Even tho he lost to Fedor he still is one of the most dangerous punches/Kickers in MMA and Has submission sjills as well. Bet no one wants to be kicked by Crocop, I would rather be hit by Tyson

Crocop is one of my fav's over in Pride. I like how he beat Randleman quickly with the guillotine and then his buddy Coleman in the same manner. Damn near an identical fight. Crocop is a hard hitting/kicking fighter. Hell, he broke Bob Sapps cheek bone and eye socket with boxing gloves on in K1.

I agree with the Diaz pick, he's got great JJ. The only thing I'd be worried about is Riggs'huge strength advantage.

It will be interesting to see Mir after the injury/year and half off. I don't know much about Cruz other than his JJ is supposed to be very good. I'm pretty sure we'll get to see Arlovski-Mir finally as Arlovski should have no trouble with Sylvia again.

I'm pumped about the Babalu-MVA fight. I think Babalu is one of the most underrated fighters out there. If he beats MVA, I think he's next in line for a title shot.

And of course who's not excited about Randy-Chuck 3. The first two fights were complete opposites, so who knows how this one will go. I think if Randy tries to stand with Chuck again, then he gets ko'd again. I'm hoping he goes for some takedowns like their first fight.

CroCop said he's retiring after the loss to Hunt on NYE. I sure hope not, because he is definitely one of my favorite fighters. He would plow through everyone in the UFC HW division with exception of Arlovski and maybe Mir. I don't think UFC would pay him the $$$ he wants though.

As for Fedor, I don't see him losing to anybody anytime soon. The man is not human!

Damn right he isn't human! Would love to see him come to UFC. Not sure who would wanna step up and fight him. Probably that over-rated Tito Ortiz cause of his ego. I would love to see Fedor retire Tito. Fedor doesn't look all rock hard and chiseled, but looks can be deceiving. You decide does he look dangerous?

You are both right. Fedor is a bad man. And have you seen his brother fight? In no way does that guy look like a fighter. I could not imagine Tito or many other people in the UFC taking a fight Fedor. Top class fighter.

Yeah, I have seen Aleksander Emelianenko he is a bad ,bad man also. Crocop did Kick his head off in their fight (his only loss), but still Aleksander is one of the top MMA fighters imo. here a pic of him too. i think he is more intimidating looking than Fedor, specially with all tats.

Fedor Emelianenko - He's the PrideFC heavyweight champion and also the baddest man on the planet.

Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic - He's a PrideFC heavyweight and used to fight in K-1. He's one of the most exciting fighters to watch because he usually KO's his opponents with a left high-kick to the head!

Wanderlei Silva - He's the PrideFC middleweight champion and has been for about the past 5 years. This highlight is pretty brutal (one of my personal favorites).

It is getting about time to make our predictions.

How would you rate this fight card?

I think it is a pretty good card; B+. Aside from the main event, we have a former heavyweight champ Frank Mir, Nick Diaz vs Joe Riggs, two Ultimate Fighter 2 guys, and few other fights that should bring some excitement.

Has Mir fought since he had his arm broken? Joe Riggs /Nick Diaz should be good fight Riggs can punch but Diaz may be too much for him. So I would pick Diaz I think by tap. Babalu will probably win his fight and of course i think Iceman by KO over Couture.
