I guess ineffective isn't good enough. I think this is a good step, but weather it's the right decision... only time will tell. I do think Auburn will have a spread offense next season. thoughts?
or am I the only one who cares...

Re: Tony Franklin fired

I think it is a sign of what is to come that the "inventor" of the spread offense has been fired. It was a gimmick offense to begin with.
Take Florida and Auburn for example, everyone has figured out there offense. Florida, No running back, don't have to worry about the run, cover the receivers, spy Tebow for the run and blitz everyone else.
Auburn, No QB, don't have to worry about the pass. Put 7-8 in the box and send em every play!

We will see a come back to the good old I formation again, I can feel it.

for about 15-20 minute against Vandy it did come back.. 14 points 128 yards.... and then we found the spread again..however, I think the spread can work in a balanced form... with a run.. a smash mouth run.. but the run is most important...

Personally, I think Tubs is trying to save himself by throwing Franklin under the bus. From an outsiders perspective, and one who only marginally cares, the Tubs/Auburn marriage has become irreconcilable and until it is ended...bad things.

Re: Tony Franklin fired

Rizzle what do you see thats bad? I've heard it before from even die hard Auburn fans...
what I hear is that Tubs basically is ok with 10-2, 9-3, 8-4 type seasons and hit up the SECCG every 4-5 years... Status Quo. He's not trying to go out and win NC's. I guess I can see that kinda..but here's my logic with why I disagree (long sorry)

In the past 23 years there have been 7 instances of a team going undefeated in the SEC (could be 6 but fer shits and giggles i included Auburns 1993 season). Florida -3 Auburn -2 (again *) Alabama and TN - 1. I say 23 years as thats been my existance. One can logically figure based upon the past you're probably going to lose at minimum 1 game in the SEC. Last year perfect example... lose 2 SEC games... own the "best team in the nation" on live TV. Don't get me wrong... I want the Tigers to compete for the SEC CG every year, the NC hinges on that game. I find it extremely doubtful there will be a repeat of the 2004 problem.. Undefeated SEC champion snubbed.. So by my logic (skewed albeit) A coach who doesn't win the SEC every season or at least play in the SEC CG should be fired? In all reality and now that I think about it I don't give a damn is Pefe mofo carroll is my coach as long as we WIN.

I could not agree more! And Fulmor is going to do the same to Chavis!

Football is won with the running game! It can be used by itself or to open up the pass, but with out a running game, no offense can produce!

Dan'l, and again I'm an outsider to your program, but the bad I'm talking about is not Tubs record on the Plains. I'll give him that. He has done much better there than I ever thought he would. He has walked away with some huge wins against highly ranked teams and he has owned his in-state rival for the better part of the last decade. From Auburn's historical perspective, that is awesome.

But you have to understand that the insiders, read Bobby Lowder and the rest of his minions, Rane, etc., want more. Don't you remember Jetgate and all the embarassment over that? Now he's got a long term contract and a huge buyout that those guys aren't willing to pay, most other schools aren't willing to pay it to hire him away, and therefore the two sides are stuck together. It's a bad situation.

You ever hear of the BBQ boys? You don't see Tubs firing those guys. Why not?

We could talk about this stuff for hours. And I can tell you that our program has had many of the same problems. We had to hit rock bottom to begin our rise back and we are certainly not there yet. Auburn ain't nowhere near rock bottom yet. You are 23, all you remember is Auburn beating Alabama. Trust me, the Auburn old timers remember something far different, and they aren't happy about what they are seeing right now from Tubs.

Looks like the faithful are in full meltdown mode. Gonna be a long last half of the season I'm afraid.

Re: Tony Franklin fired

I don't give a rat's hairy butt who our coach is, our quarterback, but by God I sure care if we win or not. looks like CTodd is sitting for the rest of the season. There is talk of even redshirt freshman trotter getting in( I find that unlikely) but Neil Caudle might... Auburn has absolutely nothing left to play for but pride. At this point if we lose every other game. At least make the 'bama game close...
