I'm frustrated with LSU

First. Congratulations to Georgia. You took it to LSU and out played them.

Second. I know it's very hard to a team to repeat as national champions but I can't help be be frustrated and depressed by LSU this year. At times they have played liked defending champions. At other times like the Florida game and Georgia, they have looked more like Tulane.

I'm not going to blame the offense this week, even though our starting QB in training made to many completions to the other side - one for a TD. The offense still moved the ball fairly well and put 31 pts (at this time) on the board. That should be enough to win if the defense is playing well. And I think Lee will develop into a good QB.

I'm going to blame a defense that completely disappears for some games and continually allows big plays. It was defense that allowed Florida to score over 50 pts. It was defense that allowed Georgia to score 45 pts. (Lee give Georgia 7 pts.). I think the big problem with the defense is that most of the starters knew the Bo Pellini system and they don't know the new defensive system as well as they should.

Bottom line I see LSU with a 3 loss regular season and a less significant bowl game.

Hopefully we'll have a good recruiting class.

Re: I'm frustrated with LSU

I am frustrated also,

But, I think it is both sides of the ball. No way a QB can throw 3 interceptions (2 of which were returned for TD) and expect to win games. Two QBs don't work either, it puts too much strain on the rest of the offense since nobody in in sync. Also, not to single out one player because it is a team, but can Lafell not catch a damn ball????

On Defense, do we have a secondary? It seems to be if the other team can get past the front 4 or 5, then you are golden.

I didn't think it was realistic to win another NC this year, but to get totally outplayed in the two real teams we have played so far??

Re: I'm frustrated with LSU

I think they should've stuck with Hatch (other than when he had the concussion) for the games. He just seems like a good game manager like Flynn and Mauck. Who cares if he can't throw a deep ball. Stick to the damn run!!! It seems sometimes G Crowton likes to get too gimmickey (not sure if thats a word) sometimes. I also realize Holliday is a big threat, but it hasn't worked out too well. If you want to run him, create an inside hole and let him gain a little speed for when he gets to the second level. Teams are keying in on the outsides and he is getting stopped before the LOS. I also think Les should find a single coordinator. I didn't think they would repeat, but I thought they would lose close games, not get blasted like they did. I will still watch them every chance I get, because they are still an exciting team. 09 should be a really good year.

Hey mac, question for you. Tell me what you think of Miles defensive coordinator hire. To me, this is a bigger problem than your QB situation and I'm interested in hearing an LSU fan's opinion on it.

In the past if LSU scored that many points it would be a sure win.

This is the first season and that meant all the defensive players had to adjust to a new system or else the defensive coordinator had to learn the old system. Either one is a disaster waiting to happen. So yes the defense is a bigger problem the the QB situation in my opinion.

The QB situation may not be perfect and Lee is throwing too many interceptions, but the offense is primarily built on the run and it is scoring points. I expect one or the other to provide some separation at the position and LSU will have just one QB starting next year. Of course, if I was Miles I would be heavily recruiting QBs now.

Do you think the "co" defensive coordinators is causing any of the problems?

To be honest I didn't know LSU was using co-defensive coordinators. But if they are and one coordinator is handling the line and the other is working the secondary it could cause problems with communicating what everyone is doing.

Looks like Lee is still throwing touchdowns to the other team. At least they are still up pretty good.

I'm beginning to think LSU is two or three years away from a good quarterback.

Re: I'm frustrated with LSU

Nice game. I wonder if the bama boosters will send Jarett Lee some gifts this year for christmas to return the favor.

Should be a good SEC championship game with Florida.
