I've Watched more Curling then Men's Hockey...

It's disgraceful that 23 NHL players go over to Italy with what is considered our best players and only beat one team. I have truly had more respect for the Men's Curling team than the USA Hockey Team. They looked good against Russia, but even in that game Russia was skating harder then they were and also delivering harder checks. Next Winter games I say USA doesn't even send a Men's Hockey Team if they are going to disgrace us like that.

It's time to go back to an amateur team, that actually practices together for more than the 3 days before the games start. We need a team not a collection of all stars.

Since that walk out it seems that hockey is not the same.

I think it will be a few years before they can restructure and get the league going again.

I hate to have a pissing contest of losers, but I must say that the Canadian men's Team was way more embarassing.

When I saw who they picked to go I knew they would suck. Where were the new young stars? I don't know if Betsky made personnel decisions ... if he did it would just be another in a series of bad decisions on his part.

23 egos and no heart was what USA sent to the Olympics this year.

I took a look at the team rosters for several of the olympic teams. Many of the players on each team are in the NHL or other American pro leagues. I had no idea.

Man,

I have only watched the Curling! I have really gotten into it, plus some of the girls on the Swiss team were kind of hot!

Woo-hoo!

I never thought I would see the day that the US men's soccer team would command more respect in international competition than the men's hockey team.

Hunger wins. It's hard to be hungry for a medal half way through your paying gig's season when you've already put your lips to Lord Stanley's Cup and raised it over your head.

I agree with the fact that they should go back to amateur players for the Olympic team, this includes the summer olympic basketball games. It should be mandated by the olympic committee for all countries that only amateur status is allowed and I believe it would make for more excitement in all the games. Just my

I don't know if I buy the amateur thing, heck the Russian team are all pros and none of them even live in Russia! Talk about being removed...

You also have to remember that hockey is a game of bounces. The best team doesn't always win a 7 game series let alone a one game elimination. When you put two Olympic caliber teams on the ice anyone can win one game.

That being said, the US team was consistently disappointing.

You also have to remember that the team that wants it more is going to get it. Russia played harder than USA did in their game. Hunger wins out more times than bounces or skills.

Yeh, but I've seen games where one team dominates the other in every aspect of the game, gets twice as many shots and twice as many scoring chances and then loses on a fluke goal. There is a reason the NHL has 7 game series in the playoffs.

They call that not playing the entire game. LOL....I have seen teams play 99% of the game and let their guard down for that 1% and BAM they lose. Relates back to who's wanting it more.

Great point!! I had this same discussion with my Dad last night. The US team did the same thing, they selected what appeared to be a bunch of good ol' boys instead of the best group of players available.
