Crisp will continue to develop into a great player, and they need to bounce Manny for someone else. He's becoming Terrel Owens up there.

He is not a T.O. Type. 95% of the time he is a great clubhouse guy. But 6 or 7 times a year he will do something stupid. It could be missing a team meeting, not pinch hit in a need spot when they give him a day off, not run out a ground ball or stupid things like that.

I think for that money and tallent level, you want a team leader. But he is amore of a class clown. Most of the fans accept that. Plus he turns David Ortiz into an all star.

Re: Who's a member of RED SOX Nation?

Card carrying member of Red Sox Nation, and one who is quite excited about the upcoming season. I think Crisp is going to surprise a lot of people, and I'm thinking Lowell will thrive in a hitters park like Fenway. I'm also looking forward to the gold glove defense!

As for pitching, while it would be nice to have the Rocket, I think a rotation of Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon, Arroyo, Wakefield will do quite nicely (I just hope they don't use Paps in the pen or Pawtucket)!

This will be a fun season. Lots of new faces, lots of surprises. A lot of folks think the offense will suffer with the loss of Damon, but Crisp's OBP has been higher, and his PECOTA rating has him only getting better. Factor in Mark Loretta, Kevin Youkillis, Papi, Manny, Tek, and Nixon, and I think this team's got a lot of pop. Maybe not as much as the Yankees, but pitching and defense wins games, and, in that regard, we're very well matched up (and, if Schill and Foulke are able to bounce back to 2004 levels, a bit ahead).

Just gimme some baseball, damnit.

Look, I'm trying to be nice here. What if one of them is his Brother or Uncle or something? You never know.

The nation is represented in Afghanistan - I've run into a bunch of the faithful over here. I grew up working for Tony C. and this WILL be the year (again).

Member of RSN since 1958(born in 1952). From the local news, Manny has honored the Sox with his presence. Hope that he takes more fielding practice than batting practice. Some public relations training would also work, but what can you buy for $20. Obviously not loyalty to the team paying you that money. BTW had Green Monster seats last year. Paul Semper Fi

I don't buy into this whole Manny business. Red Sox management didn't say his extended vacation is a problem, so why is it to the press? Boston press is always trying to make something out of nothing. No wonder he would like to be traded. No one does more damage to an athlete than media in Boston.

Too many armchair managers. He wasn't a week late if Theo knew he was going to be so, and it is not up to Theo to announce everyone's schedule to the press.
